Slow FTTC connection, DLM reset request

Hi all,
My relatives VDSL connection has been flaky for some time. We appeared to fix it back on BT where OR came and replaced everything from NTE5 to pole.
Joining Plusnet, it appears to have gone a bit pants again for some reason (a company has been here fitting full fiber, so entirely possibly they've disturbed something on the pole). The only other thing I could think of, after reading online, was to change the DSL cable from the massive long coil of un-twisted phone cable, to a CAT5E twisted pair cable, that is just long enough to go between router and socket (with a single twisted pair carrying the signal). The router lives in the TV corner, with lots of power cables/adapters, and its unfortunately not able to be relocated elsewhere.
It appears to have synced now back at 34.999 down and 7.2 up, which is higher than it was connected at previously, but can the DLM/management be reset so we can try again from the highest speed we're meant to get? Is it best to phone, or can someone contact me on here and do it this way?
Cheers!

Why bodge when the proper cable is available https://www.amazon.co.uk/rhinocables%C2%AE-Premium-Internet-Broadband-Telephone-White/dp/B01MZF9RAN/...

Not sure i'd call it a bodge, these cables are commercially available too. The faceplate we have accommodates an RJ45 jack, and there's an RJ11/RJ12 on the other end, with the central pair carrying the signal.

The reason I called it a bodge is that you said that you were using CAT5E cable. As far as I am aware CAT 5E requires 4 twisted pairs, so to connect the RJ11/12 (or both) end(s) you need to cut off the unwanted cores.
I suspect that the commercially available versions use 2 twisted pair cable.
I was not aware that there were faceplates around with an RJ45 unfiltered output.

The flat cable provided with the router was twin flat (no pairs), and I think that Amazon cable is too. Truthfully, I think the intermittent fault on ORs side is back, but I'm going to try everything possible to prove it isn't in the house first, such as interference from homeplugs (removed) or AV kit (router and cables moved again, as far away from the AV stuff and power cables as possible, although cable limitations mean it's still close).

Just to keep the information on this post updated:
Staff ran a test on the line, and said it is possibly internal equipment. We have a 1 year old filtered Mk4 faceplate installed by Openreach when we previously had speed issues (that they eventually appeared to fix).
Have moved the router approx 1m away from the TV/AV gear (was previously tried underneath in the TV cabinet, and also behind it). It is now back on the Plusnet supplied modem lead, which unfortunately has to pass behind it still, but I have ordered another, longer, lead which will allow me to get it onto the other side of the room well away from it. It is also now powered from a different socket, but on the same ring.
All the homeplug adapters are unplugged.
I'm going to give it some time, and then if no improvements, I will swap in my Openreach modem just in case the Hub 2 is at fault.

Staff have pushed through a DLM reset request for us. Unsure whether it's been processed or not yet, but the router disconnected a few times this morning of its own accord and synced back at a higher speed, download speed is much better (and actually above our minimum guaranteed now).
Lets see how the next few days pan out.
