This doc implies TP-Link routers WR741 (100Mbps) and WR1043 (Gb and N300), though

Re: Samknow white box

There was no option/choice of router to select when I signed up, they just asked for estimated b/band speed.
I got supplied the tp-link TL-WR741ND which is 100Mbit

Re: Samknow white box

It's presumably based on whether you state your network is fast or Gb ethernet. Though my internet connection would not tax 10Mbps ethernet, I have gigabit links (via a WR1043) between computers for internal transfers and a WR741 would slow that down.

Re: Samknow white box

Yeah I think I got that model because my wireless was 5GHz, the other model could never tell when the network was free to test.
PeeGee would your internal transfers still be at gigabit through the WR1043? Or does every 'bit' need to pass through the router and Whitebox?

Re: Samknow white box

I wasn't aware you needed to put the whitebox between your router and clients.
So in theory, this renders the Wifi on your router useless if you wanted to use the Whitebox properly.

Re: Samknow white box

Only between router and wired clients - wireless clients connect to your router as normal, and the Whitebox will only run when there's no traffic on the nearest wireless network (i.e. yours)

Re: Samknow white box

I've just seen that - very interesting.
I just need to hope they are sending me the better TP-Link box with Gigabit WAN and LAN.

Re: Samknow white box

Gig box ( WDR3600 v 1.2 ) arrived this morning, but I won't have chance to set it up until this afternoon.

Edit: I'll make sure to check there are no black choppers hovering overhead before I power it up.... I have noticed several people with sunglasses on  Lips_are_sealed

Sorry for the delay - a gigabit whitebox (I've just received the WDR3600v1.2 like Finguz Cheesy ) connected in the "normal" configuration shouldn't slow the data transfer speed, though there would be some "store and forward" delay in the additional switch (if you have the equipment to measure it!). However, as I have the WR1043ND connected to an ADSL modem/router it appears I can use an alternative method of slotting the whitebox between WR1043ND WAN port and that unit - so no change for the internal connections, including wireless Wink .

Re: Samknow white box

Like Xmas Again!!!
Just got mine as (I thought it's supposed to be a white box ?)
Mine is the same N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router. How do you know it's a TL-WDR3600v1.2 Huh (I cannot see that written on the unit or paperwork.)
Connected quickly & speed test & pings seem normal. Just got to wait for the email now for login info.
