Hi all,
After last week's work to get my parent's ADSL stable, we discovered that we can get the Bit Allocation & SNR data out of the DG834G v3 modem (at least with a recent firmware release).
Armed with that Information, John has upgraded RouterStats to v49a which includes these graphs, which apparently work on the v2 modem still, and possibly v1.
The Bit allocation graph is correct, while the SNR values are a bit of a guess, but look sensible. He'd welcome any feedback...
Routerstats is here: http://www.vwlowen.co.uk/internet/files.htm
Thanks to John for making this available!

WWWombat, good find.
I have tried this on my V2 and Yep it does display the bits/tone graph.
Now if only I had this information 12 months ago, before my ADSL line performance dropped after BT fixed a line fault so I could show them the difference!

@jelv
Could you post an image from your Routerstats, of a typical noise margin trace from your DG834gv3, please?
I have one, and I'd like to see how it compares.
Thanks

I haven't got any saved graphs for a significant period but I can describe it very quickly, it constantly varies between 10dB and 7dB although it usually only moves 1dB at a time.

@diesel - the author of RouterStats has a couple of graphs to show the difference between his V3 and V4. link.

I didn't notice when I first replied.
It's wired not wireless, v1 (original) not V3. That's why I was very pleasantly surprised to be able to get the bits per tone information.

Thanks, I had forgotten about that link. My v3 graph would be very similar to his, and my v4 to his bottom graph.
I currently use my favoured 585v6 for stability, but was wondering if that graph for the v3 shows actual instability, as that what it looks like, even though the v3 is renowned for hanging on to a connection.
