Re: Router connection dropouts

Glad to hear that, @82sg . hopefully that will be the end of your problems, but do shout up if anything strange happens.

@82sg

Can you post a screenshot of your router stats, so we can compare with those in Reply #18

It would also be a snapshot in time, that you can refer back to, if you were to have problems in future.

Re: Router connection dropouts

Hi,

Good idea, thanks.  Here’s the latest technical log.

Re: Router connection dropouts

@82sg Those stats look MUCH better, but you appear to be hammering your connection if that data sent/received is correct. 😉

Re: Router connection dropouts

@Dan_the_Van @Thanks for pointing out the device that’s constantly trying to connect, after a few checks it turned out to be the soundbar in the living room. I’d forgotten about it having an annoying google assistant included so have never reconnected it to the network after a password change a few months ago. I’ll reset it to stop it constantly trying though 👍

@jab1 @It turned out to be an Xbox hammering the network, I think. As part of the checks above I discovered that I never bothered updating the password on it, think I probably just thought I’d update it next time I played, but I’ve not had the chance for the last few months. Anyway, it had a lot of updates to do so I think that’s what was happening!

So far the network has disconnected once, but not sure if that would be something to expect after what was done on Thursday as it’s lasted longer than it used to. I took some screenshots of the technical log through the day in case anybody can see anything that looks to be a problem. I think the only thing that’s changed throughout that time is the noise margin, but again, I’m not sure if that’s normal.

Re: Router connection dropouts

@82sg Keep your eyes on the 'uptime' - the disconnections could just be the system training itself. Roughly when was the last screenshot, with the slightly higher SNR, taken?

In the first ten days after a line reset, if you see the occasional re-sync between midnight and dawn then it is likely Openreach DLM trying to optimise your connection, if the disconnections happen outside this time window then perhaps keep a record of when they occur - in case that reveals a pattern that might help with any future diagnosis.

When you are posting those technical log screenshots,  can you type in next to each the time and date of the snapshot

so that we can see whether there is any pattern emerging of say the SNRM varying with time of day, etc.

Re: Router connection dropouts

Thank you both, I’ll keep an eye on it and if I post anymore screenshots I’ll add the time taken 👍
