Re: Very Slow Broadband speed with Plusnet?

Hello
Last night / Early hours 1am this morning my Router went down and when it came back up my download speed was really slow... my upload speed was faster than my download speed and my connection occassionally gets dropped it only started happening this morning and I was wondering if there was any maintenance going on at plusnet servers? As I have been having really slow internet connection all day. Using speedtest to test out and my speed I had  0.23mbps for downlad and my upload speed is 0.38mbps ... Generally I get around 2.4 - 2.7 mbps. Would it be possible to get back to me on the situation please? Thank you

Re: Very Slow Broadband speed with Plusnet?

Hi wmchan84.
I've just raised your profile a little bit. you should see that shortly. Can you plug into the test socket so I can see how the line performs?

Re: Very Slow Broadband speed with Plusnet?

I have tried it with the test socket and I ran a speedtest 1.82mbps which seems better than 0.23mbps lol. How come without the front panel its working better? Thank you for your time

Re: Very Slow Broadband speed with Plusnet?

You should be seeing much better speeds than that - about 6,000kbps instead of the 2,200kbps reported by your router
I suggest raising a speed fault
The test socket isolates all your in house wiring

Re: Very Slow Broadband speed with Plusnet?

Hi wmchan84,
I'm not sure what's going on with your line but the last couple of days has been awful. Can you use a different filter and plug into the test socket so we can see if it gets any more stable and we'll take it from there. This will be the reason why the speed won't stay up.

Re: Very Slow Broadband speed with Plusnet?

I'm currently using my iPhones Internet, my Internet has gone down.. I get this in my 192.168.254 connection could not be established: could not bring up link and your DSL connection is down. Very that your thomson gateway is correctly connected to your phone line etc etc. I've left the router on all night to see if it connects but no luck the broadband light just keeps flashing. Changed the filter as u asked but no luck and it's in the test socket at the moment.
* edited* finally manage to log on to my router internet (resetted the router and then remembered my password) .... but its proper Slow and I mean its really really slow, even using a speedtest the download speed doesnt show up and loading pages are taking ages... Whats happened to my internet/ line ?Huh

Re: Very Slow Broadband speed with Plusnet?

Today the Bt engineer came, after I rang them up friday so it was really good service by plusnet and the engineer fixed my line, the problem for the line being dropped was the cable that outside was old and deteriorated, so a new cable was wired up to the socket and the static noise was gone from the phone line. Also he found out that my line should be better around 6.5mb instead of the 2.6mb speed I was getting before my problem occurred which was at 0.23mbps. I think he mentioned about him resetting the ip line or something and have to wait 3-4 days for the download speed to be able to run properly as I am currently still on 0.23mbps (checked on speedtest.net) ... Is there anychance of speeding up this process instead of waiting for 3-4 days please?
thank you for your time.
