Hi
Can anyone explain to me which is better - a range extender or a powerline adaptor please? (please bear in mind I have little technical knowledge!)
Basically I have a wi-fi router but can only get wi-fi at one end of the house.
Also I will be looking to upgrade to fibre-optic broadband in a few months time. I assume I will get a new router when I upgrade - will I still need a range extender/powerline then?

If the equipment being used is in a fixed place (e.g. a desktop PC) powerline adapters are going to be better.

Even if the other equipment is not in a fixed place, power line adapters with a wifi AP (e.g. Devolo) would be better than a range extender, as the latter needs to use the wifi band width to connect to the base router, which in effect halves the bandwidth.
