Re: Oooohhh! Shiny New Button!

James,
I was due to join the trial yesterday (ticket #29662547)
My router re-synched a few times yesterday afternoon and since then I have had no connection  Sad
DSL is up (still on ADSL1), but PPP is down. I've tried a few router reboots, but still the same.
As I've not had any recent problems I'm assuming this has been caused by an attempt to put me on 21CN?
My router is a Speedtouch 585 (software 5.3.2.6)

Re: Oooohhh! Shiny New Button!

Looks like PPP is down - router reports 'failed to connect'.

Re: Oooohhh! Shiny New Button!

@Whisky
The orders completed and your router's lost sync Sad
Can you try wiring into the test socket via a changed filter please?
How old is that firmware version> We're using 7.447 on ours currently.

Re: Oooohhh! Shiny New Button!

James,
My router says it's syncing - between 5 and 6 Meg downstream and 448Kb upstream.
It fails when connecting PPP.
Could this be due to old router firmware?
I've got a Speedtouch 585 V5, so I think the latest firmware I can run is 5.4.4.1
I could try loading this if you think it would help, but I'm a bit reluctant to change it in case the problem turns out to be something else.
I probably wouldn't be able to go back to my current firmware, which worked fine with ADSL MAX, and supports the DMT tool.

Re: Oooohhh! Shiny New Button!

Hi Whisky,
I'd certainly recommend a firmware upgrade - the version of firmware that you are currently using may not support ADSL2/ADSL2+.
If it still doesn't work after that, I can look at sorting out another router for you to test.

Re: Oooohhh! Shiny New Button!

James,
I've updated to the latest firmware for the ST585 V5 router (5.4.4.1.0).
I still can't connect, but it seems to be giving a bit more information about the problem:-
PPP CHAP Receive challenge (rhost = ERX16.MiltonKeynes2)
PPP CHAP authentication failed (Internet)
Looking around on a few forums, it looks like the ST585 V5 *should* be OK with ADSL2+, though I've not found any hard evidence of it being used in the UK.

Re: Oooohhh! Shiny New Button!

Hiya,
I'll get a new router sent out to you.
It'll be advantageous for us to see if that fixes your problem, as well as obviously to you if it works!

Re: Oooohhh! Shiny New Button!

Router's been ordered - but can you try flashing it with the v7 firmware?
We do suspect that this may be jumpering related so we're going to get it raised to BT anyway.
