No Internet & NO Internet light on router Thursday 19th April 4pm

Have just done a BT Speedtest and get the following results -

1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download  Speed
11.2 Mbps

0 Mbps 21 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 11.2 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 14.13 Mbps
2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
Upload Speed
0.38 Mbps

0 Mbps 0.45 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.38Mbps

Still consistently high for me, slightly higher than normal before the outage (16.67mb/s).

As long as the Current Line speed at the member centre is comparable with your IP profile from the BT tester, you should be Ok.

Using that speedtest.net I get the following -


Is 0.54mbps out acceptable, or should my IP profile be closer?

Is the current line speed higher or lower, if higher ok, although your might get the odd error, if lower, well it is half a meg, depends on whether you are noticing it. That download test from speedtest.net looks a bit poor, try the Thinkbroadband one.

My current line speed is 14.6Mbps, if its at all helpful to my speed after changing my router and recent problems I'd like my IP profile to be reset, if thats possible.

If you can post some ADSL line stats from your modem/router I could comment on it, but if a reset could be beneficial only someone from the Plusnet team could do it for you. (IF you don't know how to get them try http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/hardware/ select your modem/router & select FAQ's &Troubleshooting & go to para.5 or try http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php )

The line rate or IP profile looks fine as per a line check I've just done for you. This looks like what we'd usually class a performance issue so I'd advise raising a fault here: https://portal.plus.net/apps/kbdfaults

I presume Adam is referring to the poor download speeds, as your line stats don't look too bad, could be running a touch faster but it depends on what local noise you have. Let's hope the Fault gets the download speed sorted got you, best of luck with it.

If your download speeds do seem poor at the moment see what the BT speed tester displays: http://www.speedtester.bt.com/

Not sure if http://www.speedtester.bt.com is actually a valid address (it doesn't work for me), if you have the same problem then just try http://speedtester.bt.com/

Both work for me,and the www one is the one I've always used.
