I'm working from home and need to upload frequently, but I'm stuck with ADSL 1Mbps upload speed, as fibre is not available in my building. Is it possible to have the upload speed increased? Download speed is 15Mbps, thanks.

Have you considererd using mobile data? It might be faster and cheaper than you have assumed.

Yes but I live in the city centre, the antennas here are really congested, as I only get decent upload speeds between 22:00 and 07:00 (usually 0.5Mbps to 1.5MBps throughout the day and then 2Mbps to 5Mbps overnight), and daytime download speed is about half my ADSL (8Mbps against 15Mbps, overnight is much better but varies a lot). Also, I can't share the connection with the company's desktop computer, as I'm not allowed to attach any devices to it and it's got no wireless capability.

Thanks. Looks like your street cabinet is not FTTC enabled, which is strange, but you are currently due to get Full Fibre in the next year, so they are unlikely to enable it anyway.

They said that a couple of years ago, but I guess the pandemic delayed them considerably. also I'm a little over 1km away from the exchange, which would theoretically give 17Mbps/5Mbps. It would mostly solve the upload issues, but at a possibly higher monthly cost where I wouldn't benefit from improved download speed. I'm currently not able to stream 4K, for instance.

the information I posted was based on the current build programme, which is progressing well in most areas, You cannot get above 1Mbps on an ADSL line, the physics just doesn't allow it. Where did you get that information from, as looks like a FTTC 'projection, and is irrelevant as they will not enable your cab this close to Full Fibre installation.

That's not ADSL.
What speed can I expect from fibre broadband? (FTTC/VDSL2)
The speed of your connection will vary depending on the distance to the fibre cabinet that serves your house. If you know roughly how far the cabinet is, you should be able to calculate the speed you should receive based on the figures in the table below:
Distance to cabinet (metres) | Estimated downstream connection speed | Estimated upstream connection speed | Cumulative %'age of premises at this distance |
---|---|---|---|
100m | 100 Mbps | 25 Mbps | 5% |
150m | 80 Mbps | 20 Mbps | 10% |
200m | 65 Mbps | 18 Mbps | 20% |
300m | 45 Mbps | 17 Mbps | 30% |
400m | 42 Mbps | 16 Mbps | 45% |
500m | 38 Mbps | 15 Mbps | 60% |
600m | 35 Mbps | 14 Mbps | 70% |
700m | 32 Mbps | 11 Mbps | 75% |
800m | 28 Mbps | 10 Mbps | 80% |
900m | 25 Mbps | 9 Mbps | 85% |
1000m | 24 Mbps | 8 Mbps | 90% |
1250m | 17 Mbps | 5 Mbps | 95% |
1500m | 15 Mbps | 4 Mbps | 98% |

I said it looked like an FTTC projection, and distance from exchange is irrelevant in that scenario - it is distance from your street cab which counts.
