On occasions when I’ve not been home my ip address has connected to the router when I’m nowhere near home
When my partner leaves the home his IP address moves from 5ghz to 2.4ghz. If I leave home during this time his phone may disconnect on 2.4 and reconnects when I get home.
Is there a way he can stay connected to WiFi when not in range?
Can he link his ip address to my phone in any way.
This has been ongoing for a few months
I’ve reset my WiFi connection to a new ip address and my old one is still showing as connected

No.
Think of it as listening to a local radio station when out in the car - once you are out of range of the transmitter you lose the signal. When you drive back into range, you pick up the signal again.
