Sorry for the late reply Robin - just had a late lunch and phone call. I'm sure I saw where one of the 'Super Users' 'Townman' had given  detailed instructions on how  to get RSL working with the 2704N - but I may be wrong.

Searched, but nothing. Seems the 2704N is blocked from such access.

That's a shame, But not a big surprise, to be honest. I wonder if it will work with DSLstats?

@jab1 hi John, My margin level was reset last night, 1930. I reset my router just after 2100.

This is from a few minutes ago:

6 - Uptime: 0 days 14:10:58
7 - Data rate: 944/9446
8 - Maximum data rate: 1296/10844
9 - Noise margin: 5.1/4.4
10 - Line attenuation: 21.8/40.0
12 - Data sent/received: 51.4M/1.0G

 

The adviser said give it a week to settle down.

Looks better, Robin. I'd keep my eye on it - if it isn't showing 6 or slightly higher (6 to 7 possibly) during the day, in a couple of days, it may need further investigation.

I know you will, but please avoid resetting the router unless you really need to.

Right - the 'pinning' obviously failed - I'm afraid that is going to involve another phone call Robin - sorry.

Might have asked this before, because I've been replying to a lot of topics recently and can't remember  - does the 2704N have an accessible log file?

I looke deverywher for using RSL but agree, nothing.

Will try a call this evening if I can. I just hope I get someone as technical as yesterday. He was straight on my case.

Robin - I am now convinced you have the problem I referred to in message #7. I would raise a fault via faults.plus.net and ask them to arrange a proper investigation by BTOR, the problem is not going to go away until the network is repaired correctly.

I don't want to worry you, but you may have to be a bit insistent to get this sorted - it costs PN and BTOR money, and they are reluctant to spend it.

Hi John, just come off the phone from pn and BT/OR are booked for tomorrow pm.

Evidently, If I recall what he said, correctly, you need at least 3 disconnections within 72 hours in the last 30 days for BT not to charge for a NFF!!

I think I can meet that. Will check my saved logs last 30 days.

However, I just hope the engineer has some idea what to do and not a quick plug in of tester, declare a  nff and away to next job

Will have to wait and see.

Keep us informed Robin, but if it just a 'normal' engineer I doubt he will fix it - as I have said, this is exchange equipment failure, I'll bet my life on it.
