GEA test and DLM reset request

Hello i was wondering if i could get a GEA test if thats still a thing and possibly have my DLM reset?

i made this post back in 2024 about my line being banded to 74/20

https://community.plus.net/t5/Broadband/Speed-suddenly-capped/m-p/1983173#M367824

nothing has changed and i would like to have the line reset as it is very stable to see if its possible i can get back to 80/20 stable since i've recently fixed my master socket.

thank you in advance

Re: GEA test and DLM reset request

I remember how I used to have these kinds of issues when I was on ADSL 2+, used to drive me mad! It's what eventually made me decide to change to VDSL broadband. I was then on 40/10 Mbps FTTC for several years and very happy with it. Had a large noise margin of ~16dB, line reportedly could support >70 Mbps download, but I never needed to switch. Recently ended my FTTC BB contract and moved off broadband to the fibre network (PON).

Re: GEA test and DLM reset request

It's been a while since I've done this sort of thing, so not sure if my logins still work, but if you PM me your details, I will see what I can do.

Re: GEA test and DLM reset request

I'd have expected that to have worked. As it didn't, best advice I can offer is to log a fault report and our team will do what they need to do to progress.

Re: GEA test and DLM reset request

I've just done the text report option not sure how well it will work as it will likely say no fault since my speed hasn't dropped below my guarenteed minimum and my line has been stable but i'll see how it goes

Re: GEA test and DLM reset request

I'm just wondering if there's an issue with the wrong router or something being attached to my account?

only reason i bring it up is i had issues in the past with getting firmware updates because of that.

The automated bot attempted to restart my line / router and it has replied saying it failed and that i should do it manually?

Re: GEA test and DLM reset request

also i just spoke to customer services and they are not willing to help me because my speed is above the guarenteed speed as per my contract so unless you are able to try something else or get someone else to try i guess this is a lost cause

Re: GEA test and DLM reset request

DLM will update automatically ... eventually.

The only thing that I can think to help (other than waiting) is what we did this morning.

Re: GEA test and DLM reset request

The guy i spoke to was super unhelpful even felt like he was somewhat belittling me over it like i was "spoilt" with the level of speed i get now and i should basically just be greatful i get that speed on a FTTC connection.

Also saying i should look to getting full fibre as i wouldnt share my connection with other people in the building and reminding me that doing speed tests via wifi is a terrible idea even though i told him i was getting my numbers directly from the routers GUI stats page.

He claims to have attempted a DLM reset but apparently it was rejected by Openreach because i get my minimum guarenteed speed.

The fact is i would get full fibre if it was in my building and not just my road sadly the landlord who owns the building is using their own contractors to cable their properties so im waiting for that.

I guess i'll just wait and see if it gets removed automatically at some point just figured i'd try again since its been about a year since i last tried.

Thanks for all your help

Re: GEA test and DLM reset request

Sorry about that -

In terms of the fail, it probably did because it was so close to the one I did earlier.
