There was an Openreach  van about and I stopped to talk to them they confirmed that full fibre FTTP was available to my address. @Alfaman If  the above is based on your details - FTTP  is not available. How other providers can offer it is a total mystery to me, as that is the definitive document they all refer to.

I am guessing this is a data mismatch.

I'm a bit confused, not sure how they're offering you FTTP when there's no availability on Openreach's side. 

I've checked your address on the EE site and for me, it's only showing plans that use part-fibre technology...

Could you post a screenshot showing what they offer? (Omit any personal data)

Hi John  - As above - its not my address, it's the house a few doors down where full fibre has been installed from the pole but the document below says FTTP is not available to that house.   As I said, I talked to OpenReach installers an hour or so ago and they checked their database and confirmed that full fibre FTTP was available to my address and to all other addresses on my road...

Something is not quite ringing true her - the BTw data says FTTP is not available, so where the OR  installers got their information from is a mystery. It is possible that an altnet have beaten OR on installation and your neighbour is on a non-OR network.

Curious, I wonder where they are getting the information from, obviously not the BTw data!

I wonder if they are getting the address wrong ?

I can understand Openreach possibly saying its available, as their data may be in advance of BTw.

Yes from the U switch site - put in my postcode and house number and the offers all rolled in from all providers including BT and EE, but significantly not from Plusnet. The OH  poles were installed by Openreach, the fibre cables were connected to that house down the road by Openreach. Openreach are still about - I haven't seen any other company. I suppose I could knock on their door and ask them who their provider is, but don't really want to do that 🙂

If the neighbour has FTTP provided by Openreach then using their address on the availability checker should report 

'ONT exists with active service...' in the narrative below the availability matrix

Rather that using the U Switch site try other providers by going to their website and running their checks to see what they say.

Hi Mister W no nothing about ONT exists with active service  all it says is the following :

FTTP is not available.

The exchange is not in a current fibre priority programme

As a WLR withdrawal exchange, product restrictions apply

SOADSL is not restricted at the exchange

So they are not with an ISP using the OR network, rather, as I suspected, an altnet.

Brian, John - Ok you guys are correct - instead of USWITCH I looked up  EE and BT direct - they both list the same basic FTTC package as Plusnet. Curioser and Curioser. I've noticed  another house with fibre installed - I know them and asked who their provider was and they said SKY.  Really no idea what's going on.

I think I'll go back to the lab and continue making transgenic organisms and fiddling about with DNA - far far simpler than trying to get a FTTP connection!

Check the Sky website for your address and then for your neighbour who states they are on Sky.

SKY also use City Fibre - wonder if that is who they are using in the case of @Alfaman 's neighbour?
