"Hi there, Landlines are ending Jan 2027... and I just stayed with Plusnet when I should have moved to a provider that does voip."

Or you could have done both! Though, from your posts I see you would likely have been less than interested in undertaking this yourself.

Re: Moved package.

I did get that email.. but I have a static ip and wanted to keep that hence staying with plusnet. Not many providers do a static ip.

But business.bt do a static ip also do voip which is included in the package.

Re: Moved package.

Probleme hopfully solved tomorrow (Thursday) made contact with plusnet this afternoon and it was when I asked to remove my phone service and keep my broadband package I was put on a slower speed package. This is the third time I phoned regarding the speed problem so I don't if it was plusnet or openreach that caused it but I will see if it's sorted tomorrow and back upto the speed before first contact to remove phone line.

That seems like a B.S. excuse from support to get you off the call - as it makes no sense, and sounds like they were agreeing with your speculation of incorrect provisioning in order to shut you up, rather than bother attempting to diagnose a fault on your line.

When you were on FTTC you claim your speeds were 46/16Mbps

after converting to SOGEA you then said your speeds were 18/4Mbps

That means for your original 46/16Mbps speeds, you must have been on Openreach's 80/20 line profile.

The ONLY lower speed tier that Plusnet provision SOGEA is 40/10Mbps, but if you had been moved to that then your speeds would be 39/10Mbps (NOT 18/4Mbps).

Similarly, if Openreach had put you on the wrong profile (which has never been seen before on this forum for VDSL),

the Openreach VDSL profiles are -

  • 0.5/0.5 Mbps  (voice only lines)
  •  18/2 Mbps  (obsolete)
  •  40/2 Mbps  (ended 24th April 2025)
  • 40/10 Mbps
  • 55/10 Mbps
  • 80/20 Mbps

NONE of which correspond your currently reported 18/4 speeds.

You still have either a line fault either externally or in your home, or the FTTC cabinet DLM has banded your connection.

Re: Moved package.

This could be an answer. Getting a bit fed up now with this.   This was the speed from router this morning.

rather than a speedtest result consider sharing >Advanced  >Status >DSL line status section.

Re: Moved package.

@Dan_the_Van

Looking at the attached image on Message #22, it appears that the router being used is a TP-Link Archer VR2800

I did have a quick look through the VR2800 "User Guide" , and couldn't see where that router's DSL stats could be viewed.

@ExForce9

I've used TP-Link devices for years, so you get to know stuff. This is what it will look like

DSL advanced status.png

Clearly in the image there is no active connection

@Dan_the_Van

So to help @Andy2020 provide us with a screenshot of that, what are the TP-Link menu navigation steps to get there ?

Maybe I have already?

@Andy2020  in case you missed it as well in my first post on the thread

Re: Moved package.

@Andy2020

It appears that you have two problems !

Those "Current Rate" numbers confirm that you are indeed provisioned on 40/10 Mbps, when you should be on 80/20 Mbps.

As your connection was supposed to be regraded today,  if it still looks like that tomorrow, then reboot your router, check those numbers again, and if they are still 9999/40000, then you need to get back to Plusnet support and get them to change the profile from 40/10 to 80/20.  While that won't get you to 19999/80000, your line speed should be closer to 12500/52500 Kbps.

Your second problem is that there is something wrong with however you are running your speed tests.

With your router's connection at it is currently showing, a speed test via an ethernet cable should be about 36/9.7 Mbps.

As you are only seeing 18/4 Mbps, you need to find a better way of doing speed tests using an ethernet connected computer and at a time when nobody else is using the connection.
