Re: Fibre Broadband drop out

Fair enough, @Baldrick1 . From the little info the OP has provided though, I'm still leaning towards a BT/OR or BTW action. I admit to knowing nothing of PN hardware after the TG852n other than what I pick up on here and the various information pages I have collected

I wish people would close a topic, even if it was only by saying 'too much for my brain, thanks and good-bye'.

Re: Fibre Broadband drop out

All,

Sorry but work got in the way!

Using the ZEN broadband resource I note that BT were carrying out work when the outage happened and are again tonight.

Re: Fibre Broadband drop out

Also I did not carry out a re-set, mereley power cycled the Hub2.

Thanks to everyone that tried to help but I think it was BT as it was working again this morning after I left it connected overnight. The Zen resource link was really helpful.

Cheers

Re: Fibre Broadband drop out

There's your answer then.

Just one question though - Is the 'Max observed downstream speed' in the BTW screenshot you provided earlier 'normal' for you?

Re: Fibre Broadband drop out

I am also colour blind. My red light could be orange on the Hub2!

Re: Fibre Broadband drop out

No, more like 40Mbs but that is via wireless with no vpn connection in the way.

My work PC uses some sort of VPN and that is down at 18Mbs

Re: Fibre Broadband drop out

@Wrootbill OK, so there may be a way of improving things for you then. Can you post your Hubs 'Help Desk' page - obscuring your username, and the result of the 'Advance Diagnostic' from https://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ please.

Your work PC using a VPN will always be slower than a direct connection.

Re: Fibre Broadband drop out

I am not sure what you mean by hub help desk page I attach what I think you mean? also on the advanced test  from btw it just hangs on TAP1 test. When I reset it I have to wait 10mins but then it does the same again

Re: Fibre Broadband drop out

The 'Help' page you have posted gives most of the data i need, but isn't quite what I expected - see the screenshot below for the right one.

The speedtest makes me think you have an underlying problem, though - it is extremely low for your DSL connection rate.

Re: Fibre Broadband drop out

Thanks for the Hub data - If I were you, I'd be wondering why, when the data rate on there is 66mB/s, I was only getting 34 on a speed test. Try reporting a broadband fault via: https://www.plus.net/help/report-a-problem/broadband/ , and also if possible do a speed test via an Ethernet connection.

Interesting - that is reporting a much better d/l speed.

Re: Fibre Broadband drop out

Yes and nothing has changed, it's all over the place speed wise. I will do as you suggest. Thanks.
