Re: Connection goes on and off like a set of Christmas tree lights today

@corringham I would still argue that many ADSL lines come through PCP cabinets, Copilot tells me that around 12% of the 29.2 million UK landlines are still on ADSL, that is about 3.5 million. They are not all Exchange only lines as some areas don't have any FTTC service and particularly in rural areas with FTTC users on long D-side circuits cannot get a viable FTTC signal.

Of course the number of ADSL users is continuing to fall but that is more likely to be migrations to FTTP when it becomes available rather than to FTTC.

All FTTC cabinets (usually Green) have an associated PCP cabinet (usuallly Grey I believe) within 100 metres of them. They have the same cabinet number for database purposes.

Being pedantic, all the PCP cabinets I've ever seen are green.

@RobPN  To be even more pedantic I think they are all a rather darker green than FTTC cabinets.😀

Perhaps in theory, but PCP box I look at is a lighter green - with red and brown patches.

Faded and rusty 🙂

The FTTC box is darker, but I'd say only because the paint is newer !
