Can't access one website

I have really odd problem today - I just can't access one website. I cleared history and cookies and all from my browser, can access anything else I want. If I tether from my phone, I can access this website, but if I connect to wi-fi it keeps timing out. I never changed any settings, and everything was fine yesterday - I use that site for work, so this is quite annoying. Any ideas what I should try next?

Re: Can't access one website

Which site is it? There have been other instances of this recently - I'm just wondering if there have been some routing changes introduced into the BT network that have gone slightly 'pear-shaped'?

Re: Can't access one website

No problem for me - but I'm not on a connection that goes anywhere near the BT servers or data centres.

No problem here from a Plusnet IP address.

In that case, @MisterW , either I'm wrong (possible), or it just  depends which data centres/servers are involved for individuals?

Thank you both for checking! is there any settings I need to try to change? Or will this solve itself over the time?

Re: Can't access one website

@Riittas If my suspicions are correct, there is nothing you can do - it is something  deeper in the network.

Re: Can't access one website

Thanks, John - that is a new thing for me to have a problem with one single website that I've been using for years; in past these been browser-related. At least I can access when tethering.....

No problems here, also, using Plusnet.

Re: Can't access one website

This seems to be most bizarre - the problem is not my laptop or browser settings because when I tether via GiffGaff/02, I can access it all fine with all browsers, but not with Plusnet. And it was all fine yesterday.  I wait for a couple of days and keep testing. If still not working, then I suppose I will report it.

Thanks for everyone,

Riitta

@Riittas

You could try using and alternative DNS resolver to the default Plusnet ones.

If you are using a Windows based PC this might help: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-change-your-pcs-dns-settings-windows-10 or this: https://www.howtogeek.com/767564/how-to-change-dns-servers-on-windows-11/

Re: Can't access one website

@Baldrick1  a good point but no joy  I'm afraid, it doesnt look like a simple DNS issue.

Whilst I normally use opendns, I've just tried an nslookup using both the Plusnet primary, secondary and safeguard DNS servers and they all resolve the domain correctly

Re: Can't access one website

@MisterW

So does this just leave us with an IP address  problem?

@Riittas

Have you tried switching off your hub for say an hour to see if you can pick up a different IP address?

Re: Can't access one website

Yes, I would suspect an IP address or a routing problem.
