@Riittas

There is no guarantee you'll be assigned a different broadband IP Address after leaving the Hub off for a while. So it will be helpful if you can take a note of your current broadband IP Address before switching off.

Hub One Home >Advanced Settings >Broadband >Internet

Hub Two Home >Status

Re: Can't access one website

I had exactly this problem with the same site today, and also with Gardners site, which is the same company.

Still have the issue. I can access any other site I try, and never had this issue with either site before.

I did access Gardners via 4G, but that doesn’t help me much !
It must be very annoying if you use Browns BFS or Gardners daily. Luckily for me it is only a minor inconvenience, but I would like to fix it .

Re: Can't access one website

Thanks for letting me know - I seem not to access Gardners either. For me, this is a major inconvenience because I order from Browns a lot during the day, and 4G is too slow for some other tasks - it seems 5G is unreliable nowadays in my area. I am not sure if it would help to get in touch with Browns ( and Gardners)?

Re: Can't access one website

I did ask somebody at Browns yesterday,although they were just checking that  their website  was working ok ,but I can ask again today, and mention that you are also having the same problem.

Safety in numbers - I will mail them as well now. With more complaints, they start to investigate.

Re: Can't access one website

@Riittas

dns lookup

Name: www.brownsbfs.co.uk Address: 94.142.173.138

Name: www.gardners.com Address: 94.142.173.151

Did you power off your Hub?

plusnet have many subnets/networks, so for me and others it works.

A short term suggestion would be to use a VPN which will change your public IP Address away from your current plusnet one. There are free VPN services some have a browser extension. I've previously used 'Windscribe'

@MisterW

more routing issues? Not for use though (I'm 80.229.24x.xxx)

Re: Can't access one website

Thanks! I need to find out if I can install any on my laptop - university laptop so they restrict what we can install, and it means hardly nothing.

@Dan_the_Van yes, the fact that the two sites with problems are in the same subnet would tend to indicate that.

The 80.229.x.x subnet appears not to have the same issues, but that's on the 'high-touch' network. Given that, if its a routing issue its a BTw one.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Can't access one website

I have spoken to an IT manager at Browns. They have had reports of the same issue for other Plusnet users, and are working on it, and they think it is an issue between them and their ISP.

i did let them know that I knew of  at least one other user who was experiencing issues.

Re: Can't access one website

I have my access back!!! I also mailed Browns, so I'm unsure what has been done on the background and by whom. But thanks to everyone's replies and suggestions.

Re: Can't access one website

I'm having the same issue today on several websites. Its the same with firefox and edge with norton enabled and disabled.

Although I can access the websites just fine using a VPN!  Any ideas what is going on? These are just a few sites:

https://www.suburbanbaserecords.com/

https://www.spincare.co.uk/

https://www.inter-spares.co.uk/

Re: Can't access one website

A website I run https://railcam.uk is affected. It seems to be exclusively Plusnet, BT and EE users.

I have an inkling that the problem may be related to 123REG who host our domains.
https://downdetector.co.uk/status/123-reg/

Connected through Plusnet, I can't even contact their status page...

I currently cannot see any of the above sites either - on Plusnet.

PS. Just tried to ping the last one. No go - it's a DNS issue.
