Download speedachieved during the test was - 6.14 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.6 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8.13 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7.15 Mbps
So will the download speed now be increased to reflect this?

My thanks go to plusnettony, Anotherone and jelv - and anybody else who may have been involved.
During that time we've had:
- Two visits from BT Openreach, apparently fruitless
- 126 posts in this forum thread
- 40 entries in PN's ticket no 94952894
- Countless PM's between myself and plusnettony, Anotherone and jelv
- A Lift and Shift - and I still don't know what that means!
- Lots of fiddling/tweaking with the sockets/splitters/router at my end
Two questions remain in my mind: what exactly caused the problem in the first place, and why did it need two months to fix it?
I started off this thread with a graph, derived from data from the thinkbroadband speedtest, showing my download speeds since August 8th, which was when my Plusnet account was activated. I now attach an updated version of that. Finally, and just for the record, here are my latest stats:
Uptime: 7 days, 3:28:37
DSL Type: ITU-T G.992.1
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 8,128

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.9 / 19.8
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 12.0 / 19.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 29.0 / 4.7
System Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / ----
Chipset Vendor ID (Local/Remote): BDCM / TSTC
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 9 / -
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 1 / -
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / -
Loss of Link (Remote): -
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 364 / -
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0

Hi,
There is the school of thought that the very last thing done is what fixed things... for if one of the earlier activities fixed it, why did one continue doing things?
For me the "lift and shift" is the real clue here and the post fiddling simply improved matters a little more.
A "lift and shift" is the removal of your ADSL connection from one DSLAM / port to another. Although simply removing your connection from the DSLAM port and cleaning the connection has also been referred to as a Lift and Shift. The reason that this might have taken so long is that BTw are VERY RELUCTANT to approve a L&S. I have heard BTOR engineers (who have done every other possible thing) asking BTw to authorise a L&S and they have steadfastly refused.
Internal wiring can very easily take the shine of a good service into the property. Without reading through a very long thread (and knowing that Anotherone has been holding your hand) I can imagine that he has had you checking everything inside your property. He can smell suspect phone wiring from the other end of the country... in the past, following his advice, I have found phone sockets that I did not even know existed!
HTH?
Kevin
