Re: Asus N66U Users Thread

Have you looked in the router log for any errors?

Re: Asus N66U Users Thread

Hi, should I buy one of these routers or a wifi repeater?
I find the TG582  gives me a good enough signal around the house but only gives me one bar of signal in the garden and I would like to improve that.
What do you think?

Re: Asus N66U Users Thread

If you are happy with the functionality of the 582n then I would just by a plug in wifi repeater to put in a socket nearest your garden

Re: Asus N66U Users Thread

Awesome Cool
Can you detail how you did it?
Did you flash the 64k CPE via ssh under merlin and use one of the third party DD releases via the web upgrade?
The wireless performance is all I needed to hear before jumping ship to DDWRT.

Re: Asus N66U Users Thread

What wireless issues are people having with merlin? I'm just interested cause mine seems fine. What's better with dd-wrt on the wireless front

Re: Asus N66U Users Thread

i telnetted the router.
mtd-erase -d nvram
to clear the nvram.
rebooted.
uploaded the new firmware.
went back into telnet and erased the nvram again and rebooted again.
then went in as usual.......had problems on the last version....think the wired connection completely locked out.

on merlin the wireless works but its not as good when im sitting on the loo with my ipad lol

I'm now on DD-WRT.
Mostly impressed, but the current build has issues with sshd.

Channel bandwidth - 20/40 MHz
Control channel - auto
Extension channel - auto
Authentication Method - WPA2-Auto-Personal
WPA Encryption - TKIP+AES
WPA Pre shared key - mix of letters and numbers
Network Key rotation interval - 3600

Re: Asus N66U Users Thread

Having the same SSID for 2.4/5GHz seems to be a bit of an issue for my iMac.
Seems like it tries to connect to both frequencies and the router doesn't like it (getting an error in the log).

Re: Asus N66U Users Thread

I've just bought this router and installed the Merlin firmware, however for some reason I'm unable to connect my TV (Panasonic TX-L42ET5B) I keep getting a message saying unable to access gateway. I have no idea how to resolve this (i've tried 2.4 and 5ghz) without any luck and would appreciate any advice.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Asus N66U Users Thread

So when is the new firmware coming out? It must of been over a month now when we thought it was coming out but it's still only a beta.
What's your thoughts on this chaps
