That's not so good!!
You need to eliminate any internal wiring issues by checking from the 'test socket'

ok, its only 3 and half hours but  i think its enough to prove my internal wiring sucks, i guess a couple of hundred errors over 3 and half hours is ok? i also notice my sync speed has went up from 10500 to 13500. i guess if i kept it in the test socket my noise margin would drop and i would probably end up with the 19000 connection that the kitz tool predicted?

Yep! well maybe 19000 is a bit optimistic...
First thing to check on your internal wiring is whether the 'ring wire' is connected , if there are more than 2 wires connected to the removeable faceplate on the master socket then there is a good chance that could be the problem and its a simple fix. See here http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/socket.htm for details on the Ring Wire and how to remove it

Re: ADSL2?? when and how??

ringwire got removed years ago,lol!!
i think the main problem is probably the fact my router is connected to an extension and not the master socket. i jst recently discovered the extension goes out to the garage then comes back into the box room where my router normally sits. i guess im screwed. i need the router there for my pc's. i cant run cables because wooden floors would make it a pain, and homeplugs are too expensive (for me at least)
would bad internal wiring make such a huge difference? just seems like crazy high figures, plus i used to connect at about 7500 on an 8meg connection previously using the exact same setup so something has happened . if a wire came loose or something can that make the difference? or a dodgy filter maybe at the extension where the router sits?

Well yes!! , the figures speak for themselves...
In extension
[DSL Modem Stats]
US Connection Rate:    834    DS Connection Rate:    10754
DS Line Attenuation:    14      DS Margin:              13
US Line Attenuation:    6      US Margin:              11
In test socket
[DSL Modem Stats]
US Connection Rate:    834    DS Connection Rate:    13671
DS Line Attenuation:    12      DS Margin:              15
US Line Attenuation:    5      US Margin:              12
The sync has gone up be nearly 3Mb!! and the downstream margin is better ( so's the attenuation slightly ) so its got to be due to internal wiring.

Well not necessarily, your line is so short that it would probably sync at the maximum on ADSL1 even with the internal wiring problems, its only when the increased frequencies of ADSL2+ are being used that the effects of the wiring become more apparent.
What sort of wire is used for the extension?, if its plain old internal telephone cable, is it possible to replace that easily, with some decent twisted pair modern stuff, as that may make a difference.

2db difference on the attenuation - something is very wrong!

Re: ADSL2?? when and how??

Ooops! Before I used the test socket for those results I did notice the cover was kinda loose. Anyway I've put things back the way they were( router in other room connected to an extension) and made sure the master socket was tightened properly this time. Things arent back to the 13671 but nor did they drop to the 10754. They now sit at
US Connection Rate:    834    DS Connection Rate:    12546
DS Line Attenuation:    13      DS Margin:              15
US Line Attenuation:    6      US Margin:              11
My errors have went up but owhere near as bad as they were. I guess having the master socket tightened up must help, ooops!!  Embarrassed
Thanks for your help and advice everyone. I'm going to stay with it like this for the moment till I can afford homeplugs. Thanks again!!

Re: ADSL2?? when and how??

Okay, I know its been a while but since things have changed I thought it would be nice to let you know how it went.
Anyway i went ahead and got an adsl adaptor faceplate for the master phone socket and then purchased a homeplug kit.  things have changed dramatically but Im still not sure if theyre great. My connection rate is now at 19700 so thats a huge improvement. My crcs have virtually dissapeeared considering what it was like before but my FEC's are through the roof(is that bad) plus I do have a few errored seconds creeping in. The most dissapointing thing however is even download tests barely show any difference in my speed, about 1 meg faster :(. Anyway heres my new stats, any comments, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
