Re: ADSL wireless router

Thanks AnotherOne, didn't know that although I don't need it for now as the HH5 is a wireless accesspoint for me.
Good news Chandu, I found the wireless range to be a vast improvement on our set-up,

The Helpdesk page is where you need to go - it's on the Troubleshooting tab (login needed).

Thanks, just done that and get some 56 items listed, but I can't see SNR anywhere in that list.

Re: ADSL wireless router

56 items listed Shocked   I confess that I haven't seen a 5A recently, but don't recall it being substantially different from the 5B.
Can we have a copy and paste of that please (delete any personal information) or screen shot with personal data blanked.
On checking, the 4A doesn't have the info only sync speed Sad  If the 5A is similar to that, you might have to roam through the Event log, look at the WAN entries and find the DSL ones.

Re: ADSL wireless router

Ah ha. All those wireless entries is what's done it. The one I saw didn't have the BTWiFI-with-FON or the Auto-BTWiFi even activated (a bit like the 5B I've seen), never mind disabled. I did say that the 4A didn't mention SNRM, couldn't remember about the 5A. I did also say that you might have to go through the Event logs - look at the WAN entries (drop down menu) and search for DSL.
How is the sync speed you have compared to your other modem/router?

Re: ADSL wireless router

It seems later versions of firmware are a lot more helpful:
1. Product name: BT Home Hub
2. Serial number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
3. Firmware version: Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.204.1.11 (Type A) Last updated 06/07/15
4. Board version: BT Hub 5A
5. DSL uptime: 0 days, 19:59:56
6. Data rate: 20000 / 79995
7. Maximum data rate: 28703 / 96504
8. Noise margin: 10.5 / 10.2
9. Line attenuation: 5.7 / 8.2
10. Signal attenuation: 5.8 / 8.2
11. Data sent/received: 138.1 MB / 1.1 GB
12. Broadband username: myusername@plusdsl.net
13. BT Wi-fi: Yes
14. 2.4 GHz Wireless network/SSID: BTHub5-2W6Q
15. 2.4 GHz Wireless connections: Enabled (802.11 b/g/n (up to 300 Mb/s))
16. 2.4 GHz Wireless security: WPA2
17. 2.4 GHz Wireless channel: Automatic (Smart Wireless)
18. 5 GHz Wireless network/SSID: BTHub5-2W6Q5
19. 5 GHz Wireless connections: Enabled (802.11 a/n/ac (up to 1300 Mb/s))
20. 5 GHz Wireless security: WPA2
21. 5 GHz Wireless channel: Automatic (Smart Wireless)

Re: ADSL wireless router

Hey, well done, that's more like the one I recall and similar to the type B.
Poor chandu is going to have to wade through the Event logs, and that's only going to give the SNRM at sync - still better than nothing. As I wrote this, something reminded me about stats, and it was this -
Quote
However, from software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.173.1.6, the stats for ADSL lines have been removed so RouterStatsHub 5A will now ONLY work on fibre lines.

so it's because you are on Fibre rather than ADSL. How daft! Unless of course that's changed with the latest firmware. We need a user on ADSL with the latest firmware Huh  I never looked in detail at any of the other pages on that 'A' that I briefly saw, are there any that give any error figures at all?
PS. Is your Cab in your front garden? Grin

Dunno if this will help but, HH5b as an access point:

Re: ADSL wireless router

Hi Guys,
Okay, How does one go about updating the HH5A firmware?
@Anotherone, Yes I had a look at Troubleshooting > Event Log > Category > WAN, there is a long list of WAN event/s including VPI = 0 and VCI =38, but no SNRM.

Re: ADSL wireless router

From my understanding, the only way to update the HH5 firmware is via to BT ISP, I don't think Plusnet can push this as these were intended for the BT ISP network.
Hopefully I'm wrong about this, perhaps someone can confirm?

Re: ADSL wireless router

They can't be pushed, and it's debatable whether they'd ever happen automatically on a non-BTretail service - need to investigate that a bit more.
As far as the SNRM goes, no entries with DSL - nothing with DSL? There are several pages in the log mind, look at the bottom of the page and click Next if you haven't tried that already.
As far as the updates go, have a look in the log for CWMP entries to see if it's checking for updates. If it is they will decide when/if you get an update.

Only Ref to DSL found ( Troubleshooting > Event log > WAN) is:
14:27:16, 09 Dec. ( 125.550000) ATM over DSL is up
14:26:29, 09 Dec. ( 78.240000) ATM over DSL is down after 0 minutes uptime
14:26:25, 09 Dec. ( 74.380000) ATM over DSL is up
Looked at the log for CWMP, they do not make much sense to me.  See what you make of it - C & P below:
15:01:55, 10 Dec. (88604.030000) CWMP: HTTP authentication success from https://pbthdm.bt.mo
15:01:54, 10 Dec. (88602.130000) CWMP: Initializing transaction for event code 6 CONNECTION REQUEST
15:01:53, 10 Dec. (88601.990000) CWMP: Server URL: https://pbthdm.bt.mo; Connecting as user: ACS username
15:01:53, 10 Dec. (88601.990000) CWMP: Session start now. Event code(s): '6 CONNECTION REQUEST'
15:01:53, 10 Dec. (88601.850000) CWMP: Initializing transaction for event code 6 CONNECTION REQUEST
15:01:52, 10 Dec. (88600.710000) CWMP: session completed successfully

Re: ADSL wireless router

Well there we are, it's doing checks for firmware updates, if/when you might get it/one, who knows? I have noted that they are/have been happening on Fibre connections on Plusnet, just need to see if we can find evidence of it happening on ADSL for specifically the type 5A, but also out of interest for the type 5B. There must be rather a lot of HHs out there, so how & when the system decides about an update, I don't know.
No other DSL entries before 14:26:25 ? Looking for something like DSL Link up? With luck, it'll be the couple of lines just before that.

Thanks Anotherone.
I shall get an opportunity either Sun evening or on Monday, due to family commitments, to look at it again.
Thanks very much to both yourself and MatrixRob for your kind help.

Had a look at WAN (Troubleshooting > Event Log > WAN) and there is nothing before 14:26:25.  I looked further anything relating to DSL or DSL link up, but there is nothing of interest, except the details of down time (after x mins.) and up time.  I am still experiencing frequent line drops and DLM is still punishing me for this drop out/s.  It is bit annoying not to know the SNRM after each drop out.
I am still waiting for the Support to come back to me since last Friday, but it seems they are taking their time.
