slow.disconnect..slow.disconnect..engineer..slow disconnect. you get the pic.

Hi, have ticket raised (73982449) but want to get input from collective troubleshooters.
Joined pnet as new customer May. Made it 3/4 months with top speed and literally no drop outs.
Now I can't seem to get out of the 0.5Mb speed band and drop-outs are an hourly occurrence. Basically I have unusable service.
Engineer came and tested as much as possible. He spent over 3 hours here and at all points got 10Mb+ readings and no serious faults.
He leaves, everything is plugged in and synced. Straight back to under 0.5Mb and if anything a more unstable line.
How can his machine show 10Mb+ (if anything too fast) and as soon as i go to use the net I get nothing?

Hi Piet,
I'm sorry to see this is still an issue following yesterdays engineer visit. This is going to need further attention from our faults team and just to set an expectation at this stage possibly a further engineer visit.
We should be responding to ticket 73982449 regarding that ASAP.

Re: slow.disconnect..slow.disconnect..engineer..slow disconnect. you get the pic.

Thanks Adam.
FYI have run and logged BT speed test results. It took me through to a third test.
The results of which are:
- Downstream: 0Mbps
- Upstream: 0.01Mbps
"Your service was found to be performing poorly." (No kidding!)
"Please raise a fault with your ISP, stating that the BT Performance Tester tool indicates poor service throughput performance after the third test."

Re: slow.disconnect..slow.disconnect..engineer..slow disconnect. you get the pic.

I've checked over your connection and can see that your profile that we have for you had not updated since your sync speed has increased, I've changed this for you to the correct value so you should now see a better performance.

Re: slow.disconnect..slow.disconnect..engineer..slow disconnect. you get the pic.

Morning Chris,
Performance is unchanged.
Did a BT speed test this morning. Downstream: 0.04Mbps.
So still no broadband my end.  Sad

Can you log into your router and click disconnect then connect and try again.

Re: slow.disconnect..slow.disconnect..engineer..slow disconnect. you get the pic.

Chris,
Looks to be improved which is great. Will monitor.
Is there anything I can do getting data etc that will help determine what the issue was or do you know?

Our faults team will check over the engineer notes and update you with that, this morning was purely down to the profile not having caught up why your speeds were still slower.

Re: slow.disconnect..slow.disconnect..engineer..slow disconnect. you get the pic.

Hi again,
Had problems 2 months ago (see posts below) which was solved by a reset of the line and an update on my profile. Returned to speeds 10MB+ which was great.
However things have gone down again. Currently around 3MB but I want to get ahead of this whilst I can still send messages as last time it decreased until it was at 0.05MB.
There should be notes for engineer visit etc.
Help please.

Re: slow.disconnect..slow.disconnect..engineer..slow disconnect. you get the pic.

You've had a few disconnections recently that may have led to your speed drop;
<img src="http://community.plus.net/visualradius/generated/image13842428194919.png"/>
Is there anything that could have caused these? I'll need to place a SNR reset on your line to pick your speeds back up.

Re: slow.disconnect..slow.disconnect..engineer..slow disconnect. you get the pic.

Hi again Chris.
It is exactly what happened last time....complete drops which then shunt me down the pecking order until I have no internet at all. The thing is when the line is stable for days it doesn't seem to push me back up the pecking order.
With regards to the drop outs. All I can work out is it may be the router...does seem to get Very hot sometimes. Can you send a replacement then when the line is reset if it is the router then the 10mbps will stay around for longer than a couple for months.
The reason I say router is because when the engineer came he tested the line for ages at several different points and as far as he could tell it was clear as a bell and his equipment showed 10mbps easy.
Thanks. P

You did have one drop yesterday morning:

Are you currently connecting with a wired or wireless connection?

The thing is when the line is stable for days it doesn't seem to push me back up the pecking order.

By "up the pecking order" do you mean an increase in synch rate?
Your SNRM taken from the Monday morning stats figures is very high, which I suggest is consequential of doing a resynch in the early hours (circa 1am) of Saturday morning.  Doing resynchs during dark hours is not ideal to achieving the fastest synch - it does however tend to get you a more stable synch rate if your line is more susceptible to noise.
Briefly it works like this... When the line resynchs, it sets a synch rate which will deliver the target SNRM (typically 6dB) 'against' the current background noise.  ADSL lines are susceptible to MW radio transmissions during the hours of darkness.  As dawn comes, that interference goes away and thus the measured SNRM rises whilst the synch rate will remain unchanged throughout the session.  If the line is stable (no really bad noise) the session could last for weeks with no human intervention.
The key question here is what is the TARGET SNRM for your line?  If it is 6dB then a 13dB shift between the point of the session starting (1am Saturday morning) and 10:30 Monday morning is far more than would be expected for normal night time interference.  Either (for some yet to be explained reason) your target SNRM is atypically high or your line is suffering from a lot of noise.  A SNRM reset will cause the line to enter the 10 day training mode - I guess the reconnect at a little after 8am on Tuesday was the reset and the one this morning was the DLM at work.  Some new router stats would be useful.  Setting up routerstats lite for persistent monitoring would be beneficial too.
Your stats from 10 Sept shows a high SNRM 11dB and I suggest a high FEC rate (over 1m) in 2.33 hours.  Engineer test equipment can force a different SNRM than would a router, thereby attaining a higher synch rate than normal.  However with a 34dB attenuation, at a SNRM of 6dB you should see circa 12mbs, which you are well short of.
Have you checked your internal wiring as per Chris' guides at the top of this forum?
So back to your expectation - to get back up the pecking order, you would need to do a controlled resynch which does not upset the DLM.  To do this, log into the router and disconnect the PPP session and wait a couple of minutes effort powering down the router. Some recommend waiting 15 minutes before switching the router ack on again.  You might have to log back into the router to anally connect again.  However, given that you are in a 10 day training period (assuming he rested was performed) I'd leave things well alone!
HTH and good luck!
