It's just this REIN from likely a Sky Box or TV - I'm going to call it a "device" from now on as I'm only guessing what the likely culprit may be.
Good spot from the logs there, in the absence of graphs for then. I'd be interested to see the climb backup data for each of those three to see if they are identical and match what we've seen on the recent graphs.
The timings/duration of those are interesting (as was that on the graphs). It's obviously pure speculation as to what this"device" was switched on for - the 1230 maybe a catch-up on news headlines from a news channel, 1430 maybe a full half-hour news.1634 onwards, more general viewing?
I can't see anything else in my (non-sky) TV listings coinciding with those times.
Another reason for calling it a "device" is that it may be a 2nd (older possibly) TV used in a kitchen or similar area for only part of the day.
Bearing in mind the usual suspects for this sort of interference, I can't think of anything else at present that would fit these sort of patterns, as I remarked earlier, it's down to a bit of detective work. I mentioned not ruling out neighbouring modem/routers and/or computers whilst I think it less likely, whatever it is will be causing your neighbours to have problems with their broadband. It might well be worth just having a friendly ask when you see them - if they are having trouble with their broadband? Have they noticed it happens at particular times or did it get worse and has been for a while? (ie. fishing for info you can discretely get to start with).
I have some other ideas if you have a portable MW/AM radio.

Pretty sure at least 2 neighbours have Virgin BB which I wouldn't expect to be affected. Not sure of others but will see what I can gleam.

Does it need to be specifically MW? So far I've located some portable FM/AM radios.
Graphs for today attached. I'll post the info from the log that you asked for shortly.

Interesting, only one very brief dip this morning, otherwise the graphs are fine.
Modern radios just call MW/AM as AM, if I'd said MW-AM that might not have been so confusing. FM/AM means it's got 2 bands FM-VHF and AM-MW and it's AM-MW that we need. It's bad really just calling it AM for MW, as LW is also AM. MW=Medium wave, LW=Long wave and AM is Amplitude Modulation. It's the way the sound is put on the carrier wave. FM is Frequency modulation which puts the sound on in a different way. VHF is very high frequency and for broadcast radio it's in Band II (2).
On your AM radio band how is the scale shown? Is it kHz? (which I'd expect) Metres is old and would probably only be used if they'd called it MW. Is it analogue tuning or digital tuning - the latter having a digital display?
Now I've thoroughly confused you I'll shut up

AM is shown with kHz.

I've got both a digital tuner and analogue tuner.

Nearest train line is at least a mile away. Yesterday's "spike" lasted from around 9:15 to 15:16 so it would need to have been one very long.......... train.

My BB has been running for 10 days now and up solidly for 7 days after you increased the upstream. No change in downstream speed though - I was hoping for an increase back to around 6.2mb.
Is training still going on or have I been stuck on this lower speed?

Ah that could be handy then. I'll explain more a bit later.
I was thinking, we could check what your current WBC profile is, in particular the Target SNRM - if it's 9dB, then a resync in daylight when the train isn't going passed (ie whilst the SNRM is around 12) would see a useful increase in speed without risking lots of drops on the connection until we can resolve the problem. If the Target SNRM is 6, a resync would probably cause problems because the margin would go so low when the train came, if the connection didn't drop, the errors may be so high as to make the connection very sluggish.
Sorry about the train, still chuckling

How do I (or we) check the WBC profile? What is WBC?
Daylight resync may need to wait until the weekend when I can catch some daylight when home.

Quote from: Anotherone Forgot to comment on those log entries, similar pattern but not quite identical by the looks of it. This mornings was also slightly different in the sense that the "standby" time as I called it previously was a lot shorter. It may not be a standby time of course, it could be just how the voltages inside the device normally decay, and so how the interference decays.
Yes it was quite short this morning.
Just had another "spike" about 15 minutes ago.

Now rotate the radio slowly (about a vertical axis), ie so it's still staying the right way up - just turning it around so the speaker is facing a different way. Do this through a full half circle and see if you can get a point where the noise reduces to a minimum. This would indicate the source of that noise would be somewhere along the line of the radio. Tell me how you get on with that first.
WBC = Wholesale Broadband Connect - It's the BTw (BT Wholesale) name for the type of broadband connection.
Chris or someone else from CRT would need to look.

Quote from: Anotherone Hmm, wonder how long it will be on for. Switch your AM radio on and tune to somewhere down near 648 kHz where there isn't a Radio station or at worst a very week one and see if you can hear lots of buzzing and maybe whistling. Tune up and down a little to see where that's strongest.
Ok lots of buzzing - no whistling that I can hear.

Right got that point where almost no noise at all.

What do you mean by the line of the radio? Do you mean the direction that the speaker is now facing?

Ah right - hopefully Chris will oblige.
