@shutter  why not get a i-plate/BT accelerator socket it could help  I think for problems lines Plusnet my let you have 1 free or order 1 from BT  you can get them free plus p&p £5
They are easy to fit on to the master socket but it doesn’t  matter if your router connected elsewhere in your house it will still work.

I have fitted this master face plate from ADSL Nation Ltd. Seems to have cured noisy BT line.  Have found it well worth investment.

Shutter, The suggestion in the last post requires your router to be plugged in to the master socket. Just plugging in to the master socket without the expense of one of the filtered face plates would give you an improvement as you have already proved.

John, it's all sorted, info later. (That arrangement, plugged into Master, is not ideal to his situation).
