Beware dirty new BT sockets

BT recently fitted a new master socket, very latest with customer installable no tool wiring and push on faceplate, very pretty. Today moving furniture around in the same room the DSL cut several times. Eventually using a phone in the new socket I was able to hear the contacts crackling as the phone jack was moved around so the new socket had dirty contacts!!

A good dose of contact cleaner and lots of jack in-out cured the problem.

So beware of nice men from BT bearing gifts, there not always as good on the inside as the outside
