Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

The duff results are, or seem to be, specific to 21CN in any of it's flavours (ADSL1, ADSL2 and ADSL2+)
I am on 21CN ADSL1

Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

Because of another thread regarding the Service ID I though I run the Speedtester just entering my Service ID, as I do know mine. The returned result looks okay so I imagine the problem is with the database of telephone numbers to Service ID.
Just to explain how I see the Service ID. Using MAC address and IP address as a comparison the Service ID = MAC address and the Telephone number=IP address. So the Service ID is fixed to the hardware.

Ah, I see what you were getting at, Jim. Thanks for the clarification as to what's affected.

Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

I checked using the Service ID only with no cookies and the result was also wrong - this was on Sept 13th

Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

You right. I must have been lucky the once getting the test results that agree with my modem. Suppose having a banded profile increases the coincident factor.  Roll_eyes

Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

Sorry Mad Moggies. I've been out enjoying the great weather today.
I had assumed 20CN, but have never thought to check it out. Sorry.

Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

Max and IPstream. That'll be 20CN, won't it?

Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

Have had a follow-up call with BT and the Speedtester developers today. They've identified a problem with the code that they think is causing the incorrect IP profiles and speed ranges that are being returned for 21CN circuits. A fix is being rolled tonight that should hopefully sort this out.
I'm led to believe that the misreported sync speeds may be due to another issue, so tonight's fix might not address this particular aspect of the problem.
Can those of you on 21CN connections run some tests for me after 10pm tonight and let me know how you get on?
Eager to find out whether or not tonight's code changes have helped.
Thanks.

Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

Test at 22.10
Speeds are correct but IP profile is actually 3,500 according to the Plusnet systems
Edit - just had a discussion with Plusnet - my IP profile is showing as 3000 on the BT system (this was due to a 15 minute drop in sync speed 3 days ago) but it didn't report to the Plusnet system

Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

A 21CN BT speedtest at 0750 today, Tues 28th.
It is definitely still broken as far as the configured IP profile goes as the actual speed achieved exceeded that value. (The PN profile is 8000kb/s, as expected for a sync of 9363kb/s.)
Download speedachieved during the test was - 7432 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 1000-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :9363 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 1095 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 17.86:24.81:57.33 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
