Re: Terrible upload speeds and poor stability

HI Jojo,
stability is fine however this morning my uploadspeed has dropped a lot, I am only getting about 0.25Mbs today, I have checked it several times.
The download speed is up a bit I am getting about 3.3Mbs

Re: Terrible upload speeds and poor stability

I take it that is a wired test. If so I would suggest sending your fault ticket back so it can be investigated further Smiley

Re: Terrible upload speeds and poor stability

Hi Jojo,
Yes its a wired test, I have just redone test using a direct connetion from my laptop to my modem and numbers are about the same.
I notice the ping times area a bit higher today approx 53ms
I am not sure how I go about re-oppening the ticket? is it worth doing it, I expect that I will get told that the figures are fine (which they were not!) thats what heppened last time before you helped improve them a lot.

Could there be some sort of training goiing on follwoing the change that you made earlier this week?

Re: Terrible upload speeds and poor stability

Pings now spiked up a lot going above 120ms at the moment.
I still cant run the BT speedtest i get the following: "The Performance Tester is currently unable to run a speed test for your broadband connection. Please try again shortly, however if this problem persists, raise the issue with your service provider"
I am useing speedtest.net and sometiimes the Think Boradband tester.

Re: Terrible upload speeds and poor stability

If you get the fault raised I'll look into it with one of the faults guys and explain the situation. Just make sure you're in the test socket though Smiley

Re: Terrible upload speeds and poor stability

Hi Tim,
As you'll have probably seen from your ticket response, an SNR reset has set off an initialisation period, so we'll have to wait for that to complete before we can go any further. Is it possible for you to try another modem/router at all in the meantime?

Re: Terrible upload speeds and poor stability

Hi Jojo, I have done some more testing this morning and I still don't think its working properly, I would be grateful for some further investigation.
Here are my modem stats, please note I have done these tests directly from the Master test socket and I am using my Draytek Vigor 120 Modem and no router.
ATM Statistics
TX Cells                     46280134
RX Cells                   207848160
TX CRC errs 0
RX CRC errs 388
Mode ADSL2(G.992.3)
State SHOWTIME
Up Speed                   440000
Down Speed 3551445
SNR Margin 7
Loop Att.                   49

Here is a Speedtest.net result

And another about 10 mins later

And another a few minutes later

Ping speeds today are generally poor, uploads seem to start off OK then fall back badly.

Edit adding another speedtest from Think

Re: Terrible upload speeds and poor stability

HI wytco0,
I've lifted your profile to 3700 to allow for your new sync rate. I think if you want to get any higher you'd have to try a different modem/router.

Re: Terrible upload speeds and poor stability

Hi Jojo I checked the stats on my modem a liuttle while ago and the cap was still inplace,
Re my Modem/Router, the Draytek Vigor V120 Modem is regarded by most people as the best modem available so I dont think thats a bottleneck at all. My router is a Cisco E3000 which is also pretty capable. Once the uncpa has happened and its stable It woudl be good to see if we can raise the profile a bit.
Edit correctd as email I recieved was from Jojo !

Re: Terrible upload speeds and poor stability

NOW I AM WORRIED !
Has something gone wrong with this problem? I have been doing some checks this morning, the main problems are terrible upload speed and some instabilty. It looks as though my download speed has now been reduced and my upload speed cap is still in place??? Could someone let me know if this is the case. I was waiting for the upload cap to be removed not for a new cap on my download.
Here is info from this mornings tests.

Moden Stats
  ADSL Status
Mode State Up Speed Down Speed SNR Margin Loop Att.
ADSL2(G.992.3) SHOWTIME 440000 4191418 5 49

Re-booted modem @ about 10:35 to see if cap had gone

  ADSL Status
Mode State Up Speed Down Speed SNR Margin Loop Att.
ADSL2(G.992.3) SHOWTIME 440000 4106514 5 49
Cap still in place.

Direct connection in to modem
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1842996400.png
No Change to cap so reboot modem
  ADSL Status
Mode State Up Speed Down Speed SNR Margin Loop Att.
ADSL2(G.992.3) SHOWTIME 440000 3907068 5 49

So it looks as though upload cap is still inplace but now I have a lower download limit as well?

Re: Terrible upload speeds and poor stability

Hi wytco0,
There's no cap on your download, this is related to your sync rate. I can see that your order to uncap the upstream is complete but hasn't taken effect. I'll look into that further for you.

Re: Terrible upload speeds and poor stability

Hi Hi wytco0,,
I raised a fault to our suppliers then contacted them to have the profile manually changed. I have been informed that this can take up to 2 hours to take effect. As far as the download speed goes I would still like to see results with another modem/router.
