I can't see any obvious issues. The SNR is still at 6db, no errors are being picked up by diagnostics either, I can see the reduction in synch speed reflected on that though.
Have you tried a quiet line test? (dial 17070) and I assume you haven't noticed any issues using the landline? (assuming you do for calls)

Just tried a quiet line test, had to fish out my analogue test phone as I know ISPs/Phone companies are never satisfied with a digital phone for the test. No crackles or such like - nothing out of the ordinary except for what I believe is a usual, open-line type, analogue "hiss". As for phone use, I hardly ever use my phone (in the other room, permanently on silent), but in the little that I have used it I have not noticed any problems (quiet line on that, incidentally, also sounds the same). I just wish I knew exactly when this drop first occurred.

From checking when we've updated our profile to match changes to the IP profile I can see the last time you had a profile above 19mb (20600kbps) was 2/10/13.

Not odd. You'd see similar if you could see my connection habits since joining PN. Yes, I turn my router off when I'm done for the 'day' - and yes, I disconnect properly.
2/10/13? As early as that? The last exchange I had with Bob was just after he instituted the 6dB thing and I dropped from my usual to ca. upper 21Mbps. He replied (3/10/13) to my comments posted to him (27/9/13). The idea was to let it run for a while to see how things went and I had not checked my sync after that and being as pissed off as I was with still evident problems with gaming at the time (which is why I ended up in the discussion with Bob in the first place), I gave up trying - and incidentally haven't gamed at all for months now. Had I kept watch I'd have realised that I dropped further to ca. 19Mbps way back then. It's only these recent disconnections that have caused me to notice the low sync.

Sorry if this sounds blunt but I can't see why the difference between 19mb and 20mb would stop you from being able to game.
I do appreciate though that it's something you might be looking to improve on.
With that in mind and assuming you do, are you able to eliminate your hardware perhaps by trying another router and set of cables? I do note you've mentioned that nothing has changed.

The general consensus is that ADSL behaves better if the router is left switched on, as I believe it was intended to operate.

I'm not saying that. It doesn't stop me (at least as far as I'm aware now because I haven't actually gamed for months). The nature of my quibble is that I was unhappy with having to go from the lower end of 23Mbps sync to the upper end of 21Mbps, then to find that it slipped even further to the lower end of 19Mbps sync. So you see, it's actually not about "19mb and 20mb", it's about 23 down to 19, a much bigger difference. It just so happens that I didn't notice because, amongst other reasons, I've not been gaming and so not checking my stats every hour or three, and only just came to looking because of a few dropouts that have occurred with my connection. Combine that with considering entering a new contract and you can bet I'm going to say "Hang on a minute, this is just as bad, or worse than when I first broached the problem last year."

I've already been down that long and tiring route when problems first arose way back and was talking to Bob and have had several routers from PN and changed cabling. I'm not minded to do it all again, there's only so much dancing I'm prepared to do.
Excuse me if I seem blunt.
