Laggy Browsing (plc-ag02)?

Anyone else getting this? Pages are taking ages to load (synch speed 6118). 'What Gateway' can't even tell me which gateway I'm on.
Tracert also shows some slow and intermittent routing:

Re: Laggy Browsing (plc-ag02)?

Now on pcl-ag07 and a fair bit better (although my synch speed has now dropped to 4798).

Re: Laggy Browsing (plc-ag02)?

I was on pcl-ag05 yesterday when browsing slowed dramatically, but doing a gateway hop to an unknown gateway returned browsing to normal speeds.

Re: Laggy Browsing (plc-ag02)?

If anyone using the gateway checker gets the 'could not identify your gateway' message please could you post the traceroute result from the giganews news-europe server on this page. It should look something like
news-europe.giganews.com
1 vl201.gw2.ams.giganews.com (216.196.110.2) 0 ms 0 ms 0 ms
2 216-196-108-178.ams.giganews.com (216.196.108.178) 0 ms
vl307.gw1.ams.giganews.com (216.196.108.242) 0 ms
vl305.gw1.ams.giganews.com (216.196.108.226) 0 ms
3 linx-gw1.plus.net (195.66.224.164) 7 ms 8 ms 8 ms
4 po5.pcl-gw02.plus.net (212.159.1.132) 7 ms 7 ms 9 ms
MPLS Label=1099 CoS=0 TTL=0 S=1
5 te2-1-620.pcl-gw01.plus.net (84.93.254.154) 7 ms 7 ms 7 ms
6 gi11-1-1-621.pcl-ag06.plus.net (84.93.254.136) 9 ms 8 ms 8 ms
7 * * *
8 * * *
9 * * *
Max number of unresponsive hops reached (firewall or filter?)
Lack of appropriate reverse-DNS entries for newly introduced gateway paths is the usual reason for that message. I expect Plusnet will add these in the New Year.

Re: Laggy Browsing (plc-ag02)?

Yes, thanks. Smiley
I've added that to the list. The inbound path follows a different route from outgoing but it will still be ptn-ag04 (which is in Telehouse North).

Re: Laggy Browsing (plc-ag02)?

After disconnecting a lot of times, I am now on the gateway pcl-ag08 and the speeds are back to normal.
Hopefully it stays that way!

Re: Laggy Browsing (plc-ag02)?

I  had time outs last night on the Forum, but no trouble with BBC or a few others I tried.
