I'm not sure on the feedback to the agent, it really depends on the status of the previous fault. If they jumped in an said this without checking on RADIUS though, then yes, feedback is required.

Well that is grim and double grim!
Let's see where the rest gets you to. What version of firmware has the TG582n got? If it was simply suspected to be problematic, we might consider returning to it if it has (or can be upgraded to) 10.2.2.B
@Tony,
Thanks - here's hoping the rest fixes everything remaining!

I can plug the router into the hidden phone socket with a filter if you want? It's always plugged into the Master sockets built in filter
I've Just reinstated the Technicolour TG582n and it's running 10.2.2.B firmware, seems to be working ok so far

Mixed news. This is better than the December figures, but not as good as the synch earlier with the 2704n, but it does let us see the line error counts. Can we therefore stick with this for the moment?
Are there any phone extensions? Is there a cable attached to the removable lower faceplate?
Do you feel up to running some detailed monitoring? If yes, please look for "RouterStats" (full version) and download it. I'll detail configuration settings later.

Theres a splitter with 2 phones plugged into on the lower plate
Yes I'll do detailed monitoring, are the routerstats in a specific menu? I can't seem to find it
EDIT
I've had the dial tone go again today and the lines noisy now

Quote from: coffeequeen I'm having to ring the landline from a mobile to re-establish the phone line/broadband
CoffeeQueen,
In some ways this is good news, as it clearly points to a phone line fault, which Tony has passed on to BTOR. Until the phone line reports clean, there is no point looking at the BB issues. When the phone line has been looked at (do tell the engineer that the issue is intermittent) we can look again at the router / monitoring.
RouterStats is a program you run on your PC (24x7) see - http://www.vwlowen.co.uk/internet/files.htm

You mean there are no 'Rover' engineers? "There is a fault somewhere, go sniff it out and get it fixed".
No wonder it's so darned hard for ISPs if it's up to them to determine what / where the fault is in BTOR's kit and then work out which is the right kind of engineer to send.

Have you downloaded RouterStats yet?
Here is a link - http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,128606.msg1122269.html#msg1122269 - to a thread where I suggest the optimal RS settings for monitoring the state of a TG582n. If you can get that running and post some graphs here, we will be able to see if there is any indication of external disturbances.
That thread was an interesting case where nearly everything possible was degrading the user's BB service - external phone line, internal wiring, home appliances and his computer's power supply.
