Re: Minecraft

Not resolved for me. I raised a support ticket with Wireshark and have chased it.
I appreciate that it may take a while, but... some sort of feedback would be good.

Re: Minecraft

depends as although ticket times are coming down, the more specialist pools still need some more indepth staff to look at.
I'm sure someone will look at soon, depends also if it has been passed on without feedback being left - and PN has had to get their supplier involved to make the signature.

Re: Minecraft

I asked Dave to look at this before he went on holiday.  (back next week!)
How is it working ATM?

Was going to try this myself from my box at home but reluctant to donate (played it very briefly when you didn't have to and it didn't float my boat). Looks from the Wireshark capture you submitted though that the traffic is in the 'Bronze' queue. This means things are going to need tweaking on the traffic management switches. As this often involves a reload of said switches (which can be disruptive), we tend to batch requests up and do them out of hours. I could be wrong but I think the last one we did was back in January.
There's only a few changes been requested since then from what I can tell but hopefully we'll be able to get them sorted over the next week or two.

Re: Minecraft

Thank you for the update  Smiley
The last couple of nights i have tried to play it has been particularly bad. There are a couple of options in the video settings of the game which help to make things run smoother, but i still get a terrible delay. For example i click to access a storage chest and it can take between 10-20 seconds for the data to appear on my screen. When i am breaking blocks up they just reappear and i have to break them again. This is really frustrating.
I know that it's not the server that i am connecting to as my brother connects to the same server, he runs a PC less powerful than i but is currently on Talk Talk's unlimited plan. He gets far less delay and often wonders why my 'chat' doesn't appear until a minute after he has asked a question! Roll_eyes
I really do hope PN can resolve this as i still love to play it  Smiley

Re: Minecraft

Dropping gfx settings probably wouldn't help.  Our platform isn't seeing it as gaming so not giving it the priority it needs.  I'll get this picked up by Dave next week and get it moving.

Re: Minecraft

Has there been any movement on this? :3 I thought I'd check in and see.
I've been with Plusnet for a bit now and just got back into minecraft again last week after moving house.
I find at this time of the night (right in peak time) Its pretty much unplayable. Speaking to people is a cup of tea and return to see if your message has logged
affair and making anything in game is a bit of a sod as blocks reappear. Things don't load. Supah sloow!
I also know its not my friends server as his is really quick and hes with BT (boooo!)
I love Plusnet I just miss playing minecraft without laggy!
Will it ever be upgraded to game status? Or is it a bit difficult and wont be switched over thing?
Ta mucho!  Grin

Re: Minecraft

@Cheesesteak @Gibbs49, I've just made some changes to your accounts that I'm hoping should temporarily alleviate the problems you're having whilst we're waiting for the Minecraft traffic classification to be corrected. I'd be interested to hear whether or not you're still having problems now that I've done this?
@Tidgy I was about to do the same with your account but it looks like somebody has already beaten me to it? Wink

Re: Minecraft

Im afraid I have left plus.net now after 7 long years, so cant tell you if it has helped. Without sounding like a complete whiner, The server that I purchased for a month expired almost 2 weeks before a solution was implemented (Altho I delayed this by about 2 days by not including a capture). This wasn't satisfactory to me when Im paying for servers. The same thing happened with RIFT (altho that was only about 4 weeks)
I understand they system helps you limit traffic usage, but IMO you should have a stronger forum pressence to monitor new games and implement solutions faster. Whilst this was the deciding factor in my change, it was also influenced by the DL limit we had on our account and have moved to a truly unlimitted provider. I know I am in the minority, but our household uses alot of internets!
Anyway, thanks for your help, and hope the information I provided helped some other people out.

@Gibbs49, sorry to hear that, and apologies for not reacting earlier.
@Cheesesteak, any news? Have the changes I made helped?

Re: Minecraft

Morning guys,
Heads up that the Minecraft fix should be rolling live tomorrow morning. Once the work's complete, I'll remove the temporary fix from the accounts of those I've applied it to.
