My ADSL2+ is very slow

Since Plusnet upgraded me to ADSL2+ my broadband speed has dropped to as low as 181 kbps. I have had a support ticket open for this problem for nearly a month now and it still has not been resolved. I am not getting a very good response from the support team. They do not respond to me when I update the ticket. I have found that the only way to get a response from them is to open a new ticket, which seems very strange. Has any body else out there had a similar experience? I am seriously considering switching my ISP to O2. I had no problem before requesting an upgrade to ADSL2+. Wish I never had now.     Sad

Re: My ADSL2+ is very slow

Hi,
You'll need to post some stats from your router to help us.
More information here http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php
Cheers

Re: My ADSL2+ is very slow

What does this mean? 2nd entry. I am Colin-PC.
DHCP Table

Refresh

Host name MAC address IP address Lease Time
Colin-PC 00:1C:BF:90:7C:16 192.168.1.2 00:20:58:08
minint-mgjujoi 00:1D:09:BB:2E:F4 192.168.1.3 00:08:27:26

Re: My ADSL2+ is very slow

OK...   So with my (limited) experience a 29DB downstream attenuation should give a higher sync than what you have at the moment. I have a 27db attenuation and sync around 14000 (which is still a shade on the low side according to Kitz stats http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php )
Interesting that Output Power    0.0 dBm - I would have though it would say something (what I dunno)
Have you :-
a) run a BT Speed test ?
b) tried using the router in the TEST socket (need to give the stats as before)

It means that another device (IP address 192.168.1.3) is attached to your router either via Wired or Wireless connection. Laptop ? Desktop ? Printer ? Smartphone ?

Re: My ADSL2+ is very slow

This could be the problem. Somebody has hacked into my router? How. Have mac filtering on and wpa2 set with very long password. Only my laptop should be connected currently.

Yes I have. I have no test socket behind plate for some reason. I have tested my router on another broadband connection and it worked ok. However, this was not ADSL2+. Plusnet are going to send me a test router one day if they ever get round to it. Be quicker to get my own. Mystery continues.  Sad

Re: My ADSL2+ is very slow

BT test result:-
Download speedachieved during the test was - 263 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :9726 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 444 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 20.15:42.97:36.88 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.

Re: My ADSL2+ is very slow

Can you disable the wireless completely and try connected by cable to the router

Yes. I have just done that. Wifi disabled. On cable connection now. Makes no difference to the speed.

Estimated line speed:
Not recorded (service activated before we introduced estimates).
Current line speed:
    7150

I am getting a better response from you guys than I receive when I create a support ticket with Plusnet. It takes days, if they respond at all. Thanks.  Smiley
