(midnight) latency up to old tricks

« on 21/10/2009, 00:18 »
thought i would just see how the latency is past midnight and was shocked to see the results. whats gone wrong this time?

edit.
following same pattern as before where it slowly becomes more stable as we head towards the 1am -2am time period where it use to go back to my normal 16-19ms stable latency

hopefully this has been pointed out to the network guys that delt with it last time. i hope am not in for another couple of months of poor latency slap bang in the middle of my prime time gaming.

if so it could be the straw that broke the camels back.
20cn network in its current state is not some where i want to be heading back to and bad latency during my prime time gaming period is somthing i can not live with again for a couple of months. which would leave me heading for a MACdonalds  Wink

cheers james. all thoe it dosent seem as bad as when it first reared its head months ago it still shows the oraginal issue is still there and if its like this now why there is plenty of spare capicty on 21cn i dread to think what it would be like when the capicty is being pushed when adsl2+ is sold as a product

It's the usual stories of everyone's P2P schedulers kicking in at midnight.

We've got extra capacity on order for next week.

even thoe everything gets line speed at midnight. surely the traffic mangment still drop the lower p2p packets ect before allowing it to effect gaming and icmp (which is classed as 0x0a)

looking at the expected speeds of the preminum package i see p2p ect gets 1 an 2mb after 10pm and 11pm.
This worries me for this issue as i remember the first time the latency happend it use to cause bad latency at these time for 10ish mins after the rate change went upwards and that was with the old very low rate limits.

i can see the 1 an 2mb rate limits bringing back the latency issue at these rate limit change times again

all predictions just hope there as bad nostradamus predictions

That's the Chesterfield exchange hitting SVLAN capacity I think, I've reported it but haven't heard anything back yet. As yet there are no VLAN reports like we get the 20CN VP reports but we keep asking.

Same here, but it doesn't look like our network...

youve got to admit thoe dave the 10pm and 11pm latency is caused by the rate limits being relaxed, even if the traffic jam is on BTw's side of the network the extra bandwidth being given by PN network is the spark that starts the fire

still bad even on a quiet friday night. better average but still unstable. i could live with it if it was just an increase to 30 or 40ms if it was stable but being unstable makes games unplayable

EDIT. still bad at 1am.
