Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Looking to move from my current product Plusnet Extra Fibre with included 250GB bandwidth to the new one Unlimited Fibre but a little saddened to see only new customers will be getting the broadband half price for 6 months and the loyal customers like myself already plusnet members will not be eligible for an offer on the broadband  Sad Am I mistaken or is this really the case? I only have 5 months left on my current contract so would I just be wise to stay where I am and look at my options once my contract comes near to its end?

Unfortunately you aren't mistaken. Companies often use promotions like this to attract new customers. The recommendation made here on several occasions is to give Customer Options a ring and see what deal they may be able to offer you. HTH.

Yes a quick telephone call on 0800 432 0200  then select option 2 option 5 and after speaking to the person who answered the call can happily say its now all been sorted Smiley

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

I have signed up for Fibre Broadband Unlimited, but am slightly concerned.  When signing up my download speed estimation said 66MB but the order confirmation email says 40MB.  It definitely says Fibre Unlimited, is this just a problem with the confirmation email, or should I get someone to investigate to make sure the right product gets ordered?

It's definitely a problem with the confirmation email and MAY mean you get provisioned on 40/10.  If you do, we'll spot and get your regraded to 80/20 within a day or two.  Sorry!

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Unlimited is supposed to run the line at full speed no matter what protocol and free from any Plusnet restrictions.
If a 21CN user is suffering from the current line speed not updating and it is below their IP Profile are Plusnet breaking ASA rules?

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Just requested an upgrade from my 250GB fibre as well - not so much for the unlimited (I've yet to reach the 250GB limit - when it was 40GB that was more an issue), but to remove the traffic shaping.
On the suggestions of others in this forum I called the helpline to see about getting the initial 6 month discount.  They did eventually agree to the discount based on me being a long-term customer however only after I also agreed to sign up for the PlusNet telephone service as well.  The only reason I hadn't gone for the PlusNet phone in the past is because my landlady stipulated that the line has to stay with BT.  But PlusNet is now owned by BT so it's all good. I hope.  Grin

I switched over to Unlimited on my last billing date and have to say I'm delighted with it.    I can now watch TV on my iPad whilst I'm online on my laptop and also download from the BBC iPlayer without having to worry about using bandwidth.  Previously I was on Value and had to wait until after midnight to start downloading.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

I only JUST received an email advising about the UNLIMITED products. Pity, as I could have changed on my previous billing cycle!
Anyway, I've made the change, from Extra to Unlimited contracted. I am way past any contracts as I've been on Extra July 2010, and also have my phone line with PN.
The upgrade page showed £9.99, which confused me as I thought the low cost area didn't apply to my exchange. But after some searching I found that Market 2 is now considered as low cost area.
So I guess I'll have to contact support because the "market definitions changed so that pricing for Market 2 reflected that of Market 3, allowing even more people joining us to get our lowest prices." although I'm still paying as a "no low cost area" on my Extra package!

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Early this evening I saw the friend who originally referred me to Plusnet all those years ago. He is on the old Unlimited. I asked him whether he'd changed to the new version. Once he realised how much he would save he placed his upgrade order. When we checked the closed tickets I was surprised to see that it appears a modify order has been placed on his line to cap his upload - is this actually happening still or is it a false ticket?

It certainly was happening.  I thought we'd rolled a fix for it this week, but I'll check tomorrow

This is a bit of a sticking point, Plusnet did change the pricing for Market 2 but did not pro-actively notify people. If you contacted Plusnet about it they would put you on the lower price, but I doubt they would do it retrospectively. By upgrading to the new product you will get the lower price anyway. Much has been posted about this here and elsewhere.

Exactly, which is what I find vary shady, as I said to the Support Agent.
Are we, common users, supposed to check every month in which Market our line is?? I would understand if there was no refund offered during contract period but I was past my 12 months contract, and it's been 18 months since the change, so the difference adds up to around £117! You can see why I'm angry.
Anyway, sorry mods, this is not the topic of the direct thread. But it came up due to Upgrade as I'm sure many other customers will find themselves in the same situation when they upgrade and are put in the lower price.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

I put in for a change to Unlimited yesterday & noticed I am now in a market 3 area, when I first signed up in 2010  it was a market 1, I have no idea when it changed or how long I have been over paying  Sad

If the exchange was reclassified, then we did change the pricing. This was altered on your account in July 2011. It's the accounts where the customer has been on market 2 all along that we didn't alter the price for as at that point the lower pricing on market 2 was only a trial.
