Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Earlier today I put in an upgrade for unlimited, but it's already been unsuccesful..
"A modify order on this account was unsuccessful.
The reason given was "The supplied service Id does not refer to an active asset".
Modify order type:
An attempted move from ADSL 1 on WBC to ADSL2+An attempt to change the upstream capping"
I DESPERATELY need to get onto unlimited, I'm paying £34 a month (pro add-on so I can actually use the speed I'm suppose to get..) and yet I still can't download anything or stream anything during 8 am-midnight cause of the ridiculous 40gb cap.
I couldn't care less about speeds, I just want a stable and unlimited connection. Any ideas what's gone wrong with my order? Considering switching ISPs if I can't get onto unlimited because the cap really is driving me nuts.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Have you checked closed tickets on your account as that modify order is unrelated to the move to unlimited but is an unexpected side effect.
When is your next billing date
What product are you currently on as Extra has a 60GB limit and the only 40GB limit I am aware of is Value Fibre

And I'm sure someone from the DCT will be able to sort that out for you if there is any outstanding problem, but I expect it will be in the morning.
Edit: Sorry didn't spot Jim's question about billing date (or the product)  Embarrassed    [coat]

This should be picked up by the staff tomorrow and give you the necessary reassurance - if it isn't I will give them a nudge

I could do with some reassurance, too!
I chose to upgrade from Value to the new Ulimited package yesterday, but I haven't really seen any confirmation of this yet. It's shown as 'Pending' in my account, with the date 1/1/1970 next to it.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Hey,
I came to the forums a couple of days ago looking for guidance on a problem which seems to have gotten better. But that’s irrelevant to this new post. I just happened to see while I was looking around the forums mention of a new unlimited product and it seemed intriguing.
Now after trying to read up about it as much as I can I’m stroking my chin and thinking ‘this looks too good to be true’ and ‘how are they going to manage to sustain truly unlimited?’.
This had left me with a couple of questions about the new unlimited product.
I’m on an old 2005 legacy product which I love and don’t want to give up (short of a truly unlimited connection). My concerns are what happens if or when plusnet were to withdraw the unlimited package? I understand they tried to do similar packages in 2009 but obviously stopped at some point. Were those that took that package allowed to keep it with no change or were they removed from it and downgraded to a new standard package? If this new push for unlimited is withdrawn what happens to those that take it up? Do they get to keep it like I have my current legacy product or will we be forced onto a different standard package or have the unlimited package modified to include restrictions like a FUP?

What I basically want to know is, is it possible that I could take up the unlimited package, something goes wrong and I end up put on a new package that I consider to be worse than my current old legacy package? Or if something does go wrong would I be able to go back to my old legacy package rather then get lumbered with a useless new package that replaces the unlimited one?

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

AFAIK no-one has ever been forced off a legacy product of any description, so no, I think the chances of you going on Unlimited and then, IF something went wrong, being forced onto some other package worse than your old legacy package are slim to zero. I can only guess that your current package is one where peak usage doesn't start until 1600 and your concerns are maybe related to possible restrictions between 0800-1600. Somehow I can't see any restriction (FUP) being placed on unlimited if things went wrong, that would be worse than any allowances on such old legacy products or come to that any recent legacy products.
As far as moving back to an old package, Plusnet seem to have allowed that after a month or so on a newer package if it didn't suit, but your scenario is somewhat different and you'd need someone like Kelly from Plusnet to comment.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

BT have now launched a truly umlimited option with no traffic management as well so it sounds as though it is certainly viable, the bandwidth must be there to allow this.  I can't see it ending anytime soon.
Only difference is the price - £6 extra a month for BT.  Same package but Plusnet provide significantly better customer service for cheaper.

I would be astonished if that happened. The company and certain individuals (like Kelly) have pretty much staked their reputation on it.
