Re: New Customer and getting slow speeds

Have you noticed whether you have had any further noise on your phone line?
The stats suggest you are still having drops in connection and there are quite a few errors.
I take it you are still plugged into the test socket? Did you ever get round to trying another filter?

Re: New Customer and getting slow speeds

Hi, I tried a new filter but I recieved the same results, line seems clear and it is still connected to the test socket and think PN were testing the line yesterday.
PN updated the ticket number when I asked why I was not getting the speed I was quoted but replied by saying.
(I have attached the test info that PN has given me but does not help me really and I dont know if they intend to do anything)
Dear Mr Holmes,
Thank you for your patience while we investigate your problem. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Your issue appears to be resolved as after testing your line I have been unable to identify any issues with your service. I can see that the speed test you have completed shows that the line is performing within limits for your connection. Please get back to us if you have any more issues.

You can get back in touch with us online at http://contactus.plus.net or by phone on 0800 432 0200 or from a mobile on 0345 140 0200.

Re: New Customer and getting slow speeds

Was the DSL status Check Report taken with a new filter or the original?
Is the new filter still in place, if so can you post the "full" stats.
I don't agree with the Agent's comments that Sync and SNR are fine, IMHO the line is under-performing by at least 1Mbps.
The Downstream MTBE is poor at 54 seconds.
The ILQ is R(ed) and you've had a low sync event during line training as the FTR is 288kbps Shocked

What should a good MTBE be out of curiosity?

Re: New Customer and getting slow speeds

The stats posted yesterday above are with the new filter.
What is the next step for PN to do something?
I appreciate your help.

Re: New Customer and getting slow speeds

I think the next step would be to ask for an SNR reset, if your line seems stable, clearly that FTR for your line is rather silly.
Have you had any more drops at all, or heard any noise on the line recently? Can you check your Current Line speed and see if you can run the BTw Performance Test
I'm still concerned about the inconsistency between US and DS attenuations and the fact that the SNRM changes by ~ 0.8dB when you switch off the wireless. Do you have a spare modem/router or can you borrow one at all?
There's also the MTBE - whilst it isn't that low for BTw/OR to investigate per se, but the US is not very clever either.
86400 would be perfect (not that likely) but I'd hope the MTBE DS would be at least in the 100's and in the 1000's upstream (@mmorris85).

Re: New Customer and getting slow speeds

Your line is looking very stable at them moment.

The noise on your downstream at present is fine but the upstream is quite a bit higher, are you able to try another router?

Re: New Customer and getting slow speeds

Hello, the line is quiet and there are no drops noticable and Chris says it is pretty stable although the uptime is sixteen hours at the moment so I must have had a disconnection last night.
Unfortunatley I dont have access to another router and may consider buying one if it would give me better results than the 582n but It's which one to buy (any ideas?) and I probably cant afford the cost at the moment!
I have had an apology from PN as the speed I was quoted on my line was for ADSL2+ which is not available in my area until May!
I'm about 1.2 miles away from the exchange by road but the Attenuation perhaps should be lower, or do I have a faulty router?
Thanks for any advice

hmm, sorry to hear about that! at least (fingers crossed) that's not too far away now.

Here's a view of our connection logs as they stand:

Re: New Customer and getting slow speeds

Well that's strange, because no disconnection late night Wednesday or early hours Thursday is showing up on the Vis Radius.
Your line to the exchange will not necessarily take the most obvious route (eg. as the crow flies) to the exchange.
I've already commented on the inconsistency between US and DS attenuations and the fact that the SNRM changes by ~ 0.8dB when you switch off the wireless, does the SNRM still vary when you switch off the wireless?

Clearly that is one possibility that should be given serious consideration.

Re: New Customer and getting slow speeds

Hi, its been a while since I have posted on here but I seem to have alot of disconnections at the moment and I have noticed my sync speed has decreased from about and 5600 kbps to 4800 kbps also my SNR has risen to just over 9 where it is always sat at around 6.
I have noticed this since yesterday and I have tried to reset the modem but it did not do anything.
Please could PN have a look to see what is happening.
Thanks

Re: New Customer and getting slow speeds

Hi,
Are you able to connect into your test socket and see if there's any improvement?

Re: New Customer and getting slow speeds

I've placed a SNR reset to try and rectify this. This will take effect in the next 4 hours. Let me know if there's any improvement.
