I'm finding the Forums are slow, again.

I'm finding the Forums are slow tonight, Thursday 25th October
1) Posting
2) Editing
3) Uploading edited post (even slower than usual)
4) General viewing of Forums
Any of the three forums I'm using this evening.
I haven't seen any Plusnet Service Status Email  on this.
Some other PlusNet webpages are slow too, inc PlusNet Service Information.

It seems as 'brisk' as usual here - i.e. slowish but no slower than normal.

Re: I'm finding the Forums are slow tonight, Thursday 25th October

The thing that I'm getting rather fed up with, is the stalls when you click post that seem to be occurring more frequently these days. Sometimes you don't get any response other than the change in the background shading. Closing the post and then re-opening the thread seems to be the only way to deal with it.  Usually you find the post (or edit) was successful, but the problem has led to double posts before now.
I'll have to see if I can get any useful info from firebug.
Edit: Huh  Huh clicked post for the above and got "The connection was reset" "Try again" the the "Re-send data" message. All this usually results in a double post, which it hasn't this time (yet)  Roll_eyes

Re: I'm finding the Forums are slow tonight

That is also my main bugbear.
If I walk away, make a drink or food etc, I find my post has usually been posted, especially with a new post.
Edited posts seem to post much quicker.
What I mostly do, is copy my post for safety, STOP, go BACK ARROW a couple of steps, RELOAD, check to see if posted, if not, then modify or repost.

Re: I'm finding the Forums are slow , yet again.

If the attached Firebug capture (when loading a a thread) is anything to go by,  the server seems to be spending a lot of time looking for files that don't exist,  making the page take twice as long to load as it probably should!

That explains why I'm seeing the forums so fast with no hold-ups today - all of your speed has been given to me!
Seriously I wonder if we are hitting different load balancers or using a different London to Sheffield route. Here's mine:

Re: I'm finding the Forums are slow , yet again.

Totally different route London to Sheffield and hitting a different load balancer.
You: pcl to pih and load balancer pih-lb03
Me:ptn to ptp and load balancer ptp-elb02

Re: I'm finding the Forums are slow , yet again.

There is one thing in common between you and spraxyt - you are both on pcl. How about you try to see if you can get on to ptn and see if it is any better?

Re: I'm finding the Forums are slow , yet again.

No thanks  Tongue
I'm quite happy on pcl-ag03 (20CN) at the moment. Been having less problems overall (unless it's my imagination) with things.
Well Firebug is telling all about these 404 Not found GET's. They are all part of /Themes/plusnet-brand-refresh.  Strikes me someone has been a bit sloppy, and a few things need tidying up  Huh
Edit: Strangely things are running super fast right now.

Re: I'm finding the Forums are slow , yet again.

I've switched gateways (on 21CN ADSL2+) but it went to pcl-ag03 and same load balancer. Community seems no different.

10    26 ms    26 ms    26 ms  vlan2657.peh-elb01.plus.net [84.93.232.44]
11    26 ms    28 ms    25 ms  community.plus.net [212.159.8.110]
Not sure if it proves anything but it has more hops than those already posted (FTTC from Northampton to wherever).
Site seems reasonable speed-wise but did hang a couple of hours ago when trying to post.
Haven't gateway hopped for ages, I like to get 30 days out of a connection.  Crazy
