I'm finding the Forums are slow, again.

Hi Guys,
Our Network Team have corrected a couple of DNS entries on the boxes which may have caused some occasional timeout errors.  This could well explain the problems! 
We should hopefully see any benefit from these changes from about midnight tonight. (once the changes propagate)
Let us know if the site seems more responsive from tomorrow?

I'm less worried about them tbh, but I'll nudge a web designer again.

While ultimately not causing any problems,  they do account for a significant amount of time it takes the browaser to load the page,  thus impacting on the responsiveness of the site.
If nothing else,  placing blank files in the appropriate locations should (hopefully) allow the caching mechanism to decide the file hasn't changes and not attempt to load it.
As it stands,  the browser is spending more time waiting for files that don't exist than it does dealing with all the files that do!

The browser shouldn't be waiting for 404s.  The webserver should return a 404 immediately, in fact, faster than loading and returning a blank file.

It became much better after 6am.
5:30am to 6am was extremely slow, with reading Forums, checking unread posts, and trying a few Forum searches, not all at the same time.

There was a load balancing issue this morning that would have affected speeds from around 5:20 to 6:15.
All up and working again now.
