Let’s look through the round window and see what has been going on in Plusnet today: The first update is from Chris in Comms

Before we continue around the team to find out what everyone has been up to, let me tell you a story. It starts with a man called Bob. Bob is an angry man. Bob got angrier last night. Here is the story of why he was that little bit angrier than normal... Bob was in the office until nearly 8pm last night, just before he left the office he realised he'd locked his jacket and keys in a room that is secured overnight, oh dear Bob. When he left he got a train as normal towards his home town. When he got off the train at his station he had 3 minutes to dash for his bus. He didn't make it. This wasn't due to his slow running, or falling over or any other fault of his own. Today was to prove not to be his day, Bob was stopped at the station under the terrorism act and searched. Bob missed his bus, Bob is not happy. On with the show. [3:21 PM] Chris Parr: right, what you been up to today? [3:21 PM] Boblé: i'm in a meeting leave me alone See what I mean about the anger? [3:21 PM] Chris Parr: right, what you been up to today? [3:22 PM] Matt Taylor: home phone [3:22 PM] Matt Taylor: more home phone [3:22 PM] Matt Taylor: and some home phone [3:22 PM] Matt Taylor: then just when I wanted a break, someone asked me to do some home phone [3:23 PM] Chris Parr: right, what you been up to today? [3:24 PM] Chris Parr: I've been keeping on top of a few forum threads. [3:24 PM] Chris Parr: Done some more task work, still needs a bit more tidying. [3:24 PM] Chris Parr: Looked at a couple of problems and passed them on. [3:24 PM] Chris Parr: Some email relay policing and a few service status posts. [3:21 PM] Chris Parr: right, what you been up to today? [3:27 PM] James Bailey: Smiley I'm not sure what James' reply means, but that's what he said. For today's link I've gone for classic arcade games using the lights in office buildings.

Talking to yourself again Chris? Next up is Sarah from Networks.

Regular contributor Ryszard from Development next

Me again today because I've been too snowed under to find the next Dev EODer! There's a GeekUp today in Sheffield down at the Showroom, which I've been looking forward to all week. One of our number in Dev, Rowan, is presenting on agile development, so I'm nipping down to support him with a few of the the other Plusnet QA and Dev lot. Can't wait. Otherwise it's been a pretty standard hectic day around here. Lots of non-project stuff seems to be happening -- I mentioned our RCS migration yesterday -- and we seem to be at that phase where we're about to go and sell it to the rest of the business, getting it on side supporting what we want to do. Exciting, but lots of hard work.

Recovered from a very early start yesterday, Catherine brings us the QA update

Things are going pretty well in QA land today! I'm back and refreshed after yesterday's successful rollout of the Brand Refresh, the rollout of the new Essential project and the increase of usage allowance to the Broadband Your Way One product. I've gone straight onto testing our new work flow manager. Matt 1 is off on honeymoon (for three weeks!) so we are left with Matt 2, who is enjoying creating spreadsheets and trying to find out who's eating a particularly fragrant orange. Paul is doing problems and beating me at pool and Nigel is working on A Sekrit Project. This just leaves Gary, who's been working with one of our developers on a problem with our phone service and Stephen who's been happily saying 'Of course I'm right!' about, well, pretty much anything he fancies It's Geek Up tonight so I'll be off to that again - see the Dev EOD as Rys has beaten me to it with a mention 🙂 Today's random fact: the most common male names here at Plusnet are Mike, Michael or Michal (13), John, Jon, Jonathan or Jonny (12) or Matt, Matthew or Mateusz (11). However, we only have one Rupert, one Wiseman and one Geoff.

Next is our only employee named Amy with the Marketing update

Martyn has been picking up lots of new projects now that brand refresh has been successfully completed and helping with some emails. Spencer has had time to look at our order journeys today while Gavin has been picking up brand refresh bugs, making sure that our brand refresh is consistent. Chris has been reviewing last months cancellation survey, and general referral stuff Phil has been helping the sales team downstairs all day again I have been problem fixing all day, making sure our new logo is visibile on all the different websites like top-10 broadband.

Last up, Wile E. Coyote Steve from the CSC

Sorry its rushed, just asked to type this up before I do my roadrunner impression for the day.
  • Connection issues - Customers simply having connection issues, often a checking the connection on the main BT socket or router settings resolves the problem.
  • Sales - Lots of general questions about our new Broadband Essential product or regrade queries.
  • Provisioning Update - "When am I going to get switched on?"
  • Virus Queries - recent spate of Spam/Virus mail going about mainly referring to CNN.
  • Mail Client configuration - Always going to be a popular one - Remember all our support guides are on the Plusnet support site.
Hope everyone has a nice evening!
