Another find day at PlusNet Towers, and I've been busy all day stuck into my work, and suddenly Colin reminds me I agreed to do the end-of-day again today.... Arrrggghhhh! Update number one is from James in Comms (they're always quick getting their submission in):
Hello! Comms here! Today we've been looking at problems. I've been looking at problems, Bob's been looking at problems, Matt's been looking at problems and Chris is a problem, because he's poorly today. Seriously though, I've been writing some product related training as well as posting on our forums and replying to a bunch of personal messages along with attending a couple of meetings. Matt's been doing his daily batch of development CCs, looking at our forums and going to a couple of meetings. Bob's been sat at his desk looking after Network CCs and wishing Chris was here to go and make some tea. Needless to say, there's been no tea today. Which means I'll probably have to go and make some now before he shrivels up into a little hairless ball. See you all tomorrow! James
Hmm... I guess they have some problems. Well, next up is Martyn from Marketing:
Just 4 of us round the marketing desk today. Gavin and Sameer are in the building somewhere, they're going through their company induction so hopefully they'll be brimming with PlusNet knowledge by tomorrow. Amy and Shailini are working, but down in London today, meeting some of the agencies that we work with. I've been planning some training sessions for later in the week, as well as chatting with the Usergroup about a couple of things we've been working on. Chris has been coming up with some new ideas for promoting My Referrals and hunting for a giant cheque. Brian's been building web pages all day. That just leaves Phil. He's been working with our inbound sales team, doing a bit of analysis on the number of calls we get, busy times of day and loads of other interesting stuff. On a musical note, I've been singing "Tuesday Tuesday" to the tune of "Monday Monday" by the Mamas & The Papas. I've been singing it all day long and it's driving me mad. Anyone know any songs about Wednesday that I can sing tomorrow?
A quick update from Darren in Products:
Rich is back from his long raving weekend in Germany, he’s dived right back into things and has been catching up with last weeks events. Dave and Ian have both involved with induction training and various meetings. I’ve been working through my task list, doing some work on homephone calls and telling Mr Bailey off for repeatedly hitting my Mario figure. (Ed: James B has kindly provided some photos of this event both before and after.)
(I think Darren is just using the angry smiley here because Amy used it yesterday...) And finally, good ol' James gives us our update from here in Web Dev:
Here we go with a rundown of the activities in Web Dev today: Mark has been creating more video support matterial for new hardware devices, working on the failed billing policy on the Portal, and has been chasing the progress of problem fixes. Nick has been busting problems, working on product support pages, building templates, and carrying out some rollouts. The GMan has been continuing to conduct Portal design tasks, and has made the it to the top of the C4 online games chart with his pencil rebel game. Kelly has been writing and perfecting company presentations all day. Pete has been looking at some customer feedback and has spent an hour or so with some new employee starters, showing them how our interal Workplace system works. Duffy and Andrew have been fixing and testing problems. Sam, like the GMan, has been working on Portal design tasks. Dan has been looking after some ACES work and fixing his development box, which broke ever so slightly (Ed: I had a look at this. I think 'ever so slightly' is a bit of an understatement - his box is nuked! He had to get another box and use it to get his stuff off the old one!). Jonny has been interviewing two candidates for the role of Front-End Web Developer. Colin has been coding a solution to a PUGIT item, carrying out some MyAccount planning, and rather painfully, suffering from tooth ache. Rupert has been working on MyAccount development and writing some email documentation. Finally I've been suffering from a nasty cold and made an interesting and useful discovery in my Customer Generated Support Pages smart-search bar development. James. That's it for today... Bye!
