End Of Day: 15th of May

My turn to do the EOD today. How about you readers all return the favour and leave a comment telling us what you've been up to today? Go on... Kev with the CSC update

A after a hectic first few hours it was quite a nice day in the CSC. There was a big outage in London which caused high call volumes between 9am and 11am. Here are our top 5.
  1. Auth issues - Caused by the London outage.
  2. Fault updates - A lot of fault updates today, no real reason. All fault types, some are in response to text messages we send and others just chasing an update.
  3. Email set up - A lot of email calls today. It seems people are not aware of our awesome email set up guides on the website.
  4. Hardware issues - This is delays to delivery, wrong hardware sent.
  5. Router set-up - The old favourite. People who purchase new equipment and forget to make a note of the old details also new customers asking for help.
After the above I can't wait for tomorrow

Ben/Henry from dev.

Hi to one and all, Henry here from the development floor again. (My turn to write the EOD came around quickly) Today has been a bug fixing day on the Brightview Phase 2 project for pretty much everyone in the department. If people are not fixing bugs they are in QA testing bug fixes, so everyone is busy and working hard. All rather exciting stuff for your average day here at PlusNet. The excitement didn't stop there however. Rys, my knowledgeable mentor, wanted "a knife to trim some plastic" - who knows what the outcome of that was, I was too scared to ask to be honest. [Update: I saw him hacking away at an iPhone - It brought tears to my eyes, it really did, why would you do such a thing?] In other news, we said goodbye to Emily who is moving on to new adventures in her new car she has just treated herself to. So from myself and everyone, all the best to Emily. And finally, the main debate of the day was the air conditioning. Too hot? Too cold? It seems if you are by the window, you are too hot. If you are by the wall you are too cold. As for me, well I am in the middle of the room, so it was perfect. Well, this was fun, but I think that's it from me, So until next time ....

Another Kev now, this time with the Networks update

Today in Networks has been another busy day, I have been looking after the Parbin orders and support, whilst getting up to speed with the Network processes. Aaron has been dealing with Parbin support, Hostmaster, tickets and looking in to configuring the PAYH mail server whilst having the odd hot chocolate in between jobs. Matt has been dealing with some of the tricky tickets, whilst finding problems and raising change controls. Ben has been looking in to some email problems and has rolled some fixes out. Josh has been working on the Java desktop client hardware install, whilst helping out with Brightview work, also working on Brightview work has been Mike G and Lee. Russ and Dennis have been looking into an issue we had with routing as well as working on some graphs. Which leaves Dunc who has been looking after problems that have been raised. And thats another day in Networks for you

And I'll provide the Web Dev update

Brightview Phase II has again been dominating our day today with a lot of bug fixing and testing going but around that we've progressed some of the PUGIT items we are working on and closed off some NADS requests as well!

-- So, all done for today. Go on, tell us what you've been up to.
