no Wake-on-Lan & full 1000 duplex - USB 3.0 to LAN ETHERNET Adapter 10/100/1000

bought this new from ebay new week back £6.50,   works ok on Windows 11 Pro and Linux, which is what i wanted it for.

My Linux does not see have drivers for my onboard wired ethernet Realtek card, they are not in newr kernel's

the motherborad is Asus mini-itx works well but is 2013 ish  now, with INTEL i5 CPU 3.4GHZ

Anyway the Bios is circa 2015   cant be updated.

A. I cant boot from Wake-on-Lan   it seems the bios has no drivers or cant see this device so cant send signal to wake it

B. Under the devices settings there is no 1000 full duplex showing ony  10 and 100.

My onboard Realtek ethernet card has all 3 10/100/1000  and option to select whatever.

This means a max of 100    for this device,   that said my fibre Bband only goes to a MAX of 72Mbps   showing 48-58 ish generally. (  it varies all the time.

Anyone know how i can get it to full 1000.     I have latest drivers although they show up as 2016   after intial boot showed in Windows device manager as generic Microsoft 2015,  via Windows update the newer Realtek  drivers were installed.

This device seems to work ok tho.

Linux might still be able to use the Realtek card, depending upon the model number.

What distro are you using and the exact Realtek card model and version?
That's RPM to you!!

@Empire For Wake-on-Lan to work the interface needs to be powered at all times. Also, if you are not plugged into a USB3 socket the max transfer rate is 480Mbps so I would expect that the ethernet interface would automatically limit at 100Mbps.

I would be surprised if Linux does not support your built-in card. I have a system (BIOS date 2005; running Opensuse Leap 15.3) with a Realtek card (identified as RTL8111/8168/8411) and using the R8169 driver.

Plusnet FTTC (Sep 2014), Essentials (Feb 2013); ADSL (Apr 2009); Customer since Jan 2004 (on 28kb dial-up)
Using a TP-Link Archer VR600 modem-router.

@Baldrick1   Hi all & Baldric i could not read your post some sort of Moderator message

anyway @PeeGee

Yes i plug in to the rear panel USB 3 port,     i have tried 20-30 different Linux distros over the years and cant really remember

what worked and what didnt.

My  Puppy Fossapup does not work. drivers.   i have spent a long time trying this new USB/Ethernet  does work on both Win 11 Pro and Linux its just not Full duplex 1000       only 10/100    but connects fine and is pretty fast   48-58Mbps varies wildly

Time,Site etc blah.

I managed to find the lastest Realtek drivers it still shows only 10/100.

and now have a Device Manager showing a million WAN Miniports which are  near impossible to uninstall/delete permantly ie they come back,   will try full network reset later, forgotten commands on how to do ( this old brain)
