Wifi extender won't connect

I have just switched to Plusnet from BT. my router Hub2 is upstairs in my office and I have been using an extender to boost the signal downstairs. This was a BT disc probably 6 or 7 years old now. It will not connect to the new router although I have followed all the various suggested ways of achieving that. Is it possible that the "old" BT disc is incompatible?

In another browser tab, login into the Plusnet user portal BEFORE clicking the fault & ticket links
