Many thanks for this guide. It must have taken you a while to work it all out and document it.
I started by upgrading the firmware to 1.0.59.3 (as at 8/4/25). In that version there is just one small difference to your document.
Point 6 says to find the "SLIC" setting in Advanced Settings. I found it in the FXS Port tab.
Again, thanks for taking the trouble to post the instructions. I'm sure they saved me hours.

I used voipfone with their business Flex account as often the “user” charge can be what gets you. Use say 3 IP phones its 3 users with most providers and £5 each user. On the Flex extra users are £1.50+vat so I now have my business address also handling the home phone as one extra user.
I kept PN as broadband supplier, 1st time went quick and smooth, 2nd time all sorts of mixups as contract ended and I said I would just keep the broadband. Out of their goodness of heart without me knowing kept my phone number attached to the broadband. So moving the phone cut the broadband, all eventually put right but ...

CalmCurious' guide more closely resembles what I ended up doing with my setup, which was Plusnet FTTP, A&A VOIP account and a grandstream HT802, (bought on ebay for 30 incudes all the necessary cables :)). when moving my old landline phone number across.
Many of the other changes didn't seem to be needed.
The only thing I'm not sure is needed is the 'Registry Expiration to 10' which is set to the default of 60 on mine, with the 'Reregister before Expiration' set to '0', (again, the default), and seemed to work OK.
Having said that I've now set it up as he suggests as I am rung so infrequently I wouldn't know if calls aren't getting through and I just didn't realise ![]()
I assume that's what it's for. Maybe someone can confirm?

Just in passing, the green VOIP on the back of the PN2 router, as supplied, has a sticker over it saying it doesn't work so, as Townman says, it's obviously not meant to be used and won't work.

Thank you @Tettin for your guide. I recently bought a HT802 v 2 where the user interface is quite different to the original.
I wonder if I could check a few things as the defaults in the v2 might be different.
- Set Firmware Upgrade via to HTTP. Mine defaults to HTTPS. Is this OK? I think that I was able to upgrade the firmware when I bought it but there's no actual Upgrade button. It seems I need to reboot the ATA to manage this.
- Setting the router to set UPnP to ‘off ‘. My router has this set to ON which I presume is the default. Below this is another setting called Extended UPnP security which is also ON. What happens if I turn one or both of these off? I have a NAS drive attached to the router and my PC is connected via ethernet. I also have lots of smart home devices, etc connected via wifi. Will turning this off affect any of these things?
- The default setting in my HT802v2 doesn't have 'Enable pulse dialling' ticked. Should I tick this? I'm unsure what the reason is. My phones are Panasonic KX-TGJ323 triple set (about 8 years old).
- ‘SIP URI scheme when using TLS’defaults to sips but the SIP Transport is UDP which seems to not be correct so I have changed it to sip as you suggest.
Another question if I may. When the other person puts down the phone, I get about 28 seconds of silence on my end until a busy tone clicks in. Do you get this too? If a call goes to my inbuilt answerphone, the call disconnects straight away so I presume the call gets disconnected alright. It's not too important so long as I remember to hang up my end too.
I also have a question about how to set the HT802v2 to a static IP. I'm not talking about the public address but I want to ensure the internal IP address doesn't alter over time. When i choose 'Always use this IP address' in the router settings and Save, the setting won't stick. I see the HT802v2 has a couple of places where static settings might be able to be set but there are additional settings I need to complete of which I'm unsure. One place comes under Network Settings > Ethernet Settings > IPv4 and the other place comes under System Settings > Management Settings > Management Interface. I can post screenshots if necessary.

However re static ip. That is something you phone plusnet to do and make it static.
i don't think @Annie is talking about a static public IP . That not something that Plusnet will provide any more.
Shes taking about a static private IP rather than getting the router to fix it.

Thank you @Tettin
@MisterW yes that's right. I was hoping to find a way to ensure the IP remains the same so it's easy to log into the ATA. I can't seem to make it stick when I try it in the router. I seem to recall from an old router that static addresses needed to be at the lower end of the range but I am unsure how I can do this on the Hub Two.

For the Hub two the DHCP IP address are sticky and usually do not change provided the devices MAC address is not set to be random. IP Addresses are assigned to the MAC address not the devices name.
If you do want to give the ATA a fixed IP Address use any below 192.168.1.64 there is nothing to do on the Hub.
In some cases devices which are not assigned an IP Address from DHCP may not appear in My Devices.

When i choose 'Always use this IP address' in the router settings and Save, the setting won't stick.
setting 'always use this IP address' ought to work on the Hub2 and is the simplest method of fixing the IP for the HT802.
Are you trying to change the IP at the same time as fixing it ?
I dont actually use a Hub 2 but ISTR that its not possible to set a different IP and fix it in one go. I THINK you have to set the currently allocated one as fixed first and save it, then go back and change it and save again.

@MisterW I am trying to fix it first as I am unable to even change the IP address as things stand. I save the change but when I look again at the ATA in My Devices in the router it has reverted to NO beside 'Always use the IP address'.
@Dan_the_Van On the HT802v2 side, there are two places that I can see which refer to changing to a statically configured IP but I am not sure which to change and what the parameters should be.
Under Network Settings this is how things look at present...
If I choose Statically Configured in the drop down then this is what I see but I don't know what to fill out. By the way the current IP address is 192.168.1.125...
Under Management Settings this is what I see...

I did reply but it looks like I might have done something wrong as the post has disappeared/been removed.
I think I have it working by setting it on the Grandstream. Google Gemini told me to use 192.168.1.254 for DNS Server 1 and 8.8.4.4 for DNS Server 2. Hopefully this is OK. The VOIP phone seems to be working still.

The important network settings for a manual setup
IP Address - 192.168.1.? (1 to 73)
Network Mask - 255.255.255.0
Default gateway - 192.168.1.254 (this is the routers IP Address)
DNS Server - 192.168.1.254 (the hub is a DNS server or you can use choose your own)
DHCP would populate them automatically.
Your missing post has probably been blocked by a spam filter for what ever reason.

There's a typo here should be IP Address - 192.168.1.? (1 to 63)
Sorry for the error.
