Hi,
I've moved to an area with no fibre or cable internet and was advised that 5G would be a good alternative. However, no one told me that IP addresses on 5G change on every reconnect, and the ranges they jump between are all over the place. I need a static IP, or at least one that doesn't change for a few months, so my work can whitelist it. I'm therefore looking for a part-fibre alternative.
I've read on this forum that Plusnet IP addresses can be made static for a one-off fee of £5. Is this still available? When I phoned the Plusnet help line this morning, they said it wasn't offered any longer — is that correct?
Fixed! Go to the fix.

@twister78 Static IPs for new customers have not been available for some time, so Support were correct. However, as the IPs are issued from small local pools, they are usually fairly 'sticky'.

Its correct I'm afraid, static IPs have not been available to new customers for some while now!
You probably need to look at the smaller ISPs like Zen and A & A as I believe they still offer static IPs.
or if your equipment is capable , look at the A & A L2TP service ( https://www.aa.net.uk/broadband/l2tp-service/ ) over your 5g
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

so my work can whitelist
I read this sporadically, but with 35+ years in the industry I've never asked an employee what their home IP was,
for remote / VPN access to the office.
Are you sure there is not some other issue, like a restrictive parental control that is on by default and preventing access.
Many domestic ISP services are like Plusnet and Virgin Media in not offering a static IP.

For most work tasks I access my company servers through a VPN that doesn't require whitelisting. I specifically need whitelisting to access our datawarehouse on Azure. I connect to it with Microsoft Entra ID but they also want our IPs whitelisted as an extra security measure.
I was with VM for 3 years (terrible service) but the IP only changed about 4 times. The only provider that explicitily offers the static IP as part of their package is IDnet. I'll check the others you mentionned.
