Safesearch now on Google

Hi, I’ve only switched to Plusnet today and have noticed that Safesearch is now switched on.  Never heard of it before, but it does not allow total access to the internet.  Does anyone have a solution.  I spoke to Tech Support who said it was not part of Plusnet’s system.

Thank you

Re: Safesearch now on Google

@mreesholu If I read your post correctly, you are saying Safesearch on GOOGLE is switched on. If that is the case, you need to go into the GOOGLE settings and turn it off from there. Tech support are quite correct.

Yep, it's in 'Settings > Serach settings'

Re: Safesearch now on Google

Hi, Thanks for replying. Unfortunately, it didn’t.  Every thing I tried, including the advice from Tech Support resulted in the same message being shown.  The message read

You don’t have permission to turn SafeSearch off.  It’s locked by the device or network that you are browsing on.

My bag of tricks has run out.  Any help would be appreciated.  I have never experienced this problem in all the years surfing the net.  Maybe it’s a coincidence, but this problem arose as soon as I switched to Plusnet.  Just wondering what it could be and if maybe there is some default in their systems that is causing this problem

Regards

Re: Safesearch now on Google

@mreesholu It must be your device settings somewhere, because I've successfully enabled/disabled it on a laptop running the standard Firefox browser, and one running the (modified) Linux one.

Unfortunately, you'll need a Plusnet subscriber to confirm it is not PN currently as I am no longer with them, but as I had been able to adjust this prior to switching, I'm fairly certain it is your device.

Re: Safesearch now on Google

@mreesholu  I have a Plusnet FTTC connection. I have never looked at Google settings before but I can enable and disable Safesearch on a Win10 PC with Edge browser. I am certain your problem with Safesearch is nothing to do with Plusnet

Thanks @RealAleMadrid I don't think it is, either, noting the comment in the OPs last post.

@mreesholu

Similarly to RealAleMadrid, but PlusNet FTTP, and on Win7 with Chrome, I just tried and reached the same conclusion.

In case it's relevant, a search in each state using the word 'porn' brought up vastly different results.  Wink
