Router power supply

Hi Folks
I need to move my wireless router. I have a long enough network cable and adsl cable, the problem is the length of the power supply cable from the Adapter.  Does anyone have any suggestions.

I did think of that, but what I would prefer if I could use a thin cable similar to the one from the transformer.  I don't really want to have a thick cable.
PClinux is the best.

I've used lighting flex before now to extend cables like that.
Couple of choc-block connectors and insulating tape, it's only 12V DC after all.
(some routers are AC and up to 19V, but rarely)

I've never seen mini extension leads for adapters but I suppose you could always go to the local TV repair shop and get them to make you one.
Otherwise it's a normal extension lead I'm afraid.

Why do'nt you add another wall plug socket, (take a spur off one of your wall plug sockets)

You could use some thin wire to extend the low voltage cable, solder at ends plus some insulating tape.

I think I will take hp sauce's advice and get the blocks.

be sure to make solid connexions and to wrap the choc-blocks with insulating tape to ensure against shock.

If the requirement's fairly generic e.g. 12v 1A you might be able to get a replacement adapter with a longer lead on?

You just need to watch out that you get the tip and ring polarities correct.

The cables will be 'tip to tip' and 'ring to ring' so surely polarity is not an issue.

I assume by adsl cable you mean the router to filter cable. Have you tried using it to make sure it doesn't affect you connection speed/stability? We've seen a lot of problems over the years caused by dodgy extension wires!

That was just if you considered oliverb's suggestion of a different power supply.
