Plusnet URLs - quick ways to get where you want

The tables below list all the URLs and DNS names used to access Plusnet servers which are in the format xxx.plus.net. It can also be used to determine the names which may be used by Force 9 or Free Online users.
plusnet can be substituted with force9 by Force 9 users and with free-online by Free Online users for all servers except those marked with an asterisk.
These links all open in the same window - to open in a new Window you will need to use the browser command (usually accessed by right click or by middle clicking the link).

Re: Plusnet URLs - quick ways to get where you want

I'm wondering about changing all the [url] to [iurl] so that the links open in the same window - what do you think?

Re: Plusnet URLs - quick ways to get where you want

OK - how about the way I've just changed portal.plus.net? You can click either the link or the icon.

Re: Plusnet URLs - quick ways to get where you want

hum, am not a big fan of links that take control of the current tab unless the previous page is not needed due to the link taking you where you need to go on that website.
thought it was a case of new tab or new window?
i would have the icon open new window and the hyper link a new tab
mind i tend to use right click to pick what i want any way

Re: Plusnet URLs - quick ways to get where you want

Asbo: there're two choices available – either open in the same ‘entity’, or open in a new entity. I use the word ‘entity’ because determining between windows and tabs is done by the browser, not the forum software. For example, Safari by default puts new ‘open in new window’ links in a new window, but it can be overridden so that such links open in new tabs in the same window instead.
Jelv: whilst I like the way you've done the first link, I suspect the subtle difference might be lost on the average user.
Edit: for clarity

Good work jelv, I'm thinking this would make a pretty good support page. You thought of converting it into a Community Library article?

Re: Plusnet URLs - quick ways to get where you want

I didn't even know what the icon meant - I hate links which open in the same window when I have set Firefox to open in a new tab. It means I have to remember to click using the middle mouse button

I think you are probably right.

The reason I asked about this is because I'm guessing that this page is not going to be peoples ultimate destination. If they've clicked the link in my signature to get here they will have already created one new tab/window, clicking one of the links in here to open another seems rather excessive (and there's always the middle click option).
I've decided to change all the links to [iurl] and have added a note at the top.
