Nice to have the luxury of 4 cables to try. However in the past I've used what appear to be identical standard looking cables; one from a Fuji camera and another for a Canon camera, but they would not interchange and had to be used with their respective cameras. My current Pentax camera seems to be happy with any cable used with it. Never did work out which was the
non-standard cable, but I suspect it was the Canon. The only slight difference was that the Canon was not purchased in this country (and came without English language software, and wasn't available as a download
which Canon were very reluctant to supply)...if that should make any difference?
Quite agree about Canon software which seems to demand to be installed first to avoid problems (this seems to apply across their product range) However it's probably good practice to always install software first anyway.
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.
